About the Role :

The role is responsible for building strategic industry partnerships and strengthening work transition pathways across ITIs, Polytechnics and VTIs. It will develop employer networks, facilitate industry engagement, exposure visits, placement drives and job fairs, and strengthen the capacity of Placement Officers and implementation partners through training, mentoring and best-practice sharing.

The role will also drive regional placement and alumni strategies, track learner outcomes, support landscape studies and document scalable industry–institution engagement models. It will coordinate with state, regional and program teams, maintain employer and placement databases, ensure timely reporting, and manage interns or fellows as required.

Responsibilities :

Industry Relationship and Partnership Development:

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with industries and businesses relevant to Tamil Nadu's priority trades (including green and AI-aligned sectors) at state and central level

  • Build and sustain relationships with industry stakeholders across Tamil Nadu's 132 ITIs — including the 10 Women ITIs and 5 Tribal ITIs — to understand sector-specific hiring needs and expectations

  • Document good practices from Tamil Nadu's industry engagement with ITIs, DET, and central government (e.g., Industry-ITI Roundtable) to create replicable models for other states

  • Facilitate regular communication between ITIs and industry partners beyond placements — co-curriculum input, guest sessions, mentoring

  • Create exposure visit opportunities for learners and educators with Tamil Nadu industry partners

  • Support landscape studies with the research and training teams to map Tamil Nadu's industry demand by trade and region 

Providing Work Transition (Placement & Self-Employment) Support to ITIs and VTIs

  • Support program implementation partners across Tamil Nadu to plan and monitor industry engagement activities effectively

  • Build the capacity of Placement Officers across Tamil Nadu's ITI network to plan and run placement-related activities at their institutes

  • Plan and deliver training for Placement Officers on placement systems and best practices, including orientation for Women ITI and Tribal ITI staff on institute-specific transition barriers

Anchoring and Executing Work Transition Strategies & Plans in the Region

  • Build an annual placement activity calendar for Tamil Nadu in collaboration with regional and DET teams

  • Plan to run employer engagement events, including placement fairs, across Tamil Nadu ITIs

  • Anchor regular calls and review meetings with Placement Officers to track progress against the state's transition targets

  • Enable ITIs to independently run placement-related activities — job fairs, placement drives, guest lectures — building toward institutional ownership rather than Quest-led delivery


Design and Execute Strategy for Alumni Tracking, Family & Alumni Engagement
  • Design and implement an alumni tracking strategy for Tamil Nadu to understand learner trajectories and program impact post-completion, including apprenticeship, employment, higher education, and entrepreneurship pathways

  • Implement alumni tracking through ICF, interns, Placement Cells, and partner institutions across Tamil Nadu's ITIs and VTIs

  • Support the program team on Alumni & Family Engagement at Tamil Nadu's Women ITIs, through session delivery or industry support

  • Build program team capacity on delivering key placement sessions

Relationship Building

  • Build active working relationships with company representatives, industry bodies, and Placement Officers across Tamil Nadu

  • Build a robust, regularly updated database of Tamil Nadu employers by networking with companies and industry bodies, and make it accessible to program implementation partners

Team Management

  • Manage interns or fellows supporting the Tamil Nadu placement portfolio, as relevant

  • Set clear performance objectives and development plans for team members

  • Support, mentor, and coach team members as part of their professional development

  • Serve as a role model always

  • Ensure HR policy and procedure is followed by the team

  • Support team welfare in coordination with the People team

  • Lead recruitment and induction for the team

Reporting

  • Submit monthly and quarterly donor reports on time

  • Consolidate Tamil Nadu placement and workshop reports

  • Submit reports for review meetings and update the database on time

  • Be available for regular line management meetings and appraisal processes

  • Ensure all relevant Tamil Nadu placement and transition data is available on time



Requirements

Qualifications & Skill:

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in the placement of candidates at the Fresher level of an NGO or of Technical institutes. 

  • Knowledge of liasioning with companies and experience in industry connect including the role of placement of students within organizations. 

  • Previous experience in customer/client contact, especially establishing and developing effective links with companies in the relevant discipline/field. 

  • Experience in working & training young adults for Jobs, OJT etc. 

  • Good computer skills and is good at Data analysis.

  • Must be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the placements service

  • Willing to undertake external visits & should be open to traveling

  • Must be a team player and be able to negotiate and consult with all those engaged internally and externally within the placement space

Skills Required

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in placement of candidates at the fresher level in an NGO or technical institutes

  • Experience working with and training young adults for jobs, on-the-job training (OJT), etc.
