Position Summary

CHI, a leading Florida Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is seeking a warm, community-driven MD or DO to serve as the pediatric anchor for our patients and families in Homestead. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive well-child and sick-child care, build lasting relationships with generations of local families, and champion health equity for a diverse, largely bilingual community — all while being backed by a supportive, multidisciplinary team that prioritizes manageable panel sizes and comprehensive loan repayment support. Responsibilities

· Provide comprehensive primary pediatric care to a panel of patients.

· Provide emergency screening and stabilization of acute patients.

· Act as back up for other physicians, for their pediatric patients.

· Provides Neonatal care for all newborns at hospital daily.

· Meets with pregnant patients at CHI weekly on same day as OB visits starting at 36th week of gestation.

· Attend in-service and administrative meetings pertinent to the job.

· Complete charts according to CHI policies.

· Act as a facilitator between patients and consultants.

· Provide in-service for other medical staff.

· Partake in the peer review process.

· Partake in functions of the Health Professional Staff (HPS).

· Provide patient services beyond the “visit” by following up on tests.

· Timely signing of reports for filing.

· Timely completion of Administrative Forms (insurance, etc.…).

· Supervise Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant when needed.

· Follow guidelines for provider productivity as established for CHCs in Performance measures (4,200 to 6,000 encounters per FTE physician, 2,100 to 3,000 for mid-level practitioners per year).

· Adheres to Confidentiality Policies and Procedures / HIPPA Regulations.

· Must attend at least four (4) Grand Rounds each year.

· Provide Quality Care to patients.

· Score high on Patient Satisfaction Survey.

· Participate in organizational Activities (i.e. Health Fairs).

· Maintains 100% Productivity monthly.

· Reports to work on time and ready to work with minimal absenteeism.

· Completes B&E (billing & encounter) forms within the same day of intervention.

· Provide accurate & timely documentation in patient charts within the same day of intervention.

· Adheres to Confidentiality Policies and Procedures / HIPAA Regulations.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

Required 

· Medical Degree: Graduation from an accredited Medical School with an MD or DO

· Licensure: Current and unrestricted Florida license to practice medicine.

· Certification: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics.

· Prescribing Credentials: Valid federal DEA registration and state-controlled substance license.

· Core Skills: Proven ability to manage well-child visits, immunizations, and acute/chronic pediatric conditions from infancy through adolescence.

· Cultural Competency: Strong communication skills suited for diverse, underserved, and multicultural populations.

Preferred 

  • Bilingual Skills: Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred; Haitian Creole a plus.
  • Community Health Experience: Prior clinical practice within an FQHC, CHC, or public health setting.
  • EHR Proficiency: Experience navigating EPIC for charting and quality metrics.
  • Continuity of Care: Interest in longitudinal, family-based pediatric care within a medically underserved community.


Skills Required
