Job Summary
Physicians independently perform a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections and are also responsible for selecting and utilizing appropriate diagnostics and/or therapeutic procedures for patients.
Job Requirements
Education
- Graduate of an accredited medical school required
Work Experience
2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required
Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required
Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by an ABMS member board or AOA specialty board in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
- Active state medical licensure
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting
- Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Essential Functions
Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Job Responsibilities include:
Examining and treating patients
Taking patients’ medical histories
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
Educating and counseling patients
Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
Supervising GoHealth PA/NPs remotely when cases are presented to you for supervision
Act as a Collaborating Physician for up to four PA/NPs in the credentialing process, including signoff of the PA/NPs delineation of privileges (DOP)
Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift
All other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For
Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Med/Peds
Active state medical license
2–5 years of post-residency clinical experience, with at least 18 months in an urgent care or emergency medicine setting
Experience treating patients across all age groups
Proficiency in minor procedures such as suturing and splinting, and in reading EKGs and X-rays
Strong communication and listening skills
Comfort collaborating with advanced practice providers
Your Role
As a Physician at Mercy-GoHealth, you’ll independently provide a wide range of clinical services, including:
Examining and treating patients with acute conditions
Taking medical histories and ordering diagnostic tests
Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
Performing minor procedures and administering vaccinations
Documenting patient progress and coordinating follow-up care
Supervising and collaborating with PA/NPs, including remote supervision and credentialing support
Working 8- or 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced, patient-focused setting
