SECTION 1: Job Summary (Summary of the basic functions of the position)
A Physician Assistant is a healthcare professional licensed to practice medicine with physician
supervision; provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of physician(s);
diagnoses and treats diseases of human skin by performing the following duties.
SECTION 2: Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions)
- Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
- Diagnoses patient conditions, examines skin to determine nature of disease, administers or orders diagnostic tests, taking blood samples, smears and skin biopsies from affected areas, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
- Treats illnesses, abscesses, skin injuries, malignancies, skin infections, and other skin conditions
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, and other procedures as appropriate.
- Assists Physician(s) in surgical procedures, surgically excises cutaneous malignancies, cysts, birthmarks, and other growths, suturing, wound care, and other procedures as appropriate.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
- Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.
- Prescribes and administers medications under the supervision of the physician(s) and in accordance with regulations of the State Medical Board/Regulatory agency for PA’s.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
- Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.
SECTION 3: Experience Requirements
- Minimum two years of work experience in a medical office, required.
- Minimum two years of dermatology experience outside of training, required
SECTION 4: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, required.
- Thorough knowledge of medical billing coding, including CPT and ICD-10 coding, required.
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function
- Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations
- Interpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and team mate support needs
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving
- Basic to intermediate computer operation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines

- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Skills Required
