We are looking for a Physical Security Operational Risk Manager to help us scale our global physical security program. This position sits within our Physical Security team in New York.
You'll work at the intersection of security operations, global security standards, public-sector partnerships, and crisis response—identifying and reducing physical security risk, turning regional security practices into consistent global standards, and sharpening how we respond to incidents across regions.
It's a hands-on role suited to someone with a background in corporate security, public safety, intelligence, emergency management, law enforcement, the military, or critical infrastructure who moves comfortably between risk strategy, execution, and incident response.
Additional responsibilities of the role will include:
- Partnering with regional security leads and the broader global Physical Security team to identify, assess, and prioritize physical security risks across all Jane Street locations and Streeters; coordinating mitigation efforts from planning through execution; and providing leadership with visibility into risks, blockers, timelines, and resource needs
- Working with the global Physical Security team to develop and maintain global operating standards (e.g., PSOC procedures, access control, incident response, guard force expectations, emergency procedures, escalation paths), agreeing on shared metrics for operational performance, running quality assurance and post-incident reviews together, and partnering with regional leads to close gaps between regional and global practices
- Coordinating with regional teams to build and strengthen relationships with law enforcement, emergency services, and government agencies
- Helping manage the firm’s operational relationship with security risk/emergency providers alongside the global team; keeping escalation paths, service levels, and contact trees tested; planning with regional security leads for civil unrest, natural disasters, workplace-violence threats, and medical and travel emergencies; and running tabletop exercises and after-action reviews together
- Coordinating with our global and regional security teams during incidents and aligning our response, communications, documentation, and follow-up; maintaining shared escalation and notification protocols; and contributing concise incident summaries, trend analysis, and leadership updates
As our firm grows, your leadership will be crucial in shaping the security systems that protect our global operations and meet the highest standards.

What We Do
Jane Street works differently. As a liquidity provider and market maker, we trade on more than 200 trading venues across 45 countries and help form the backbone of global markets. Our approach is rooted in technology and rigorous quantitative analysis, but our success is driven by our people. Our bright, beautiful offices in the heart of New York, London, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam are open and buzzing with conversation. We come from many backgrounds and encourage travel between offices to share perspectives. Some of our best ideas come from bumping into a visiting colleague at the office coffee bar. Markets move fast. Staying competitive as we’ve grown has required constant invention—of new trading strategies, technology, and processes. We’ve found this is easier when you hire humble, kind people. They tend to help each other, and prioritize teamwork over titles. We invest heavily in teaching and training. There’s a library and a classroom in every office, because deepening your understanding of something is considered real work. Guest lectures, classes, and conferences round out the intellectual exchanges that happen every day. People grow into long careers at Jane Street because there are always new and interesting problems to solve, systems to build, and theories to test. More than twenty years after our founding, it still feels like we’re just getting started.
