Photoneo Vision System Programmer

Position Overview
We are seeking a Photoneo Vision System Programmer to support advanced automated manufacturing systems in a high-tech production environment in Livonia, MI. This role will focus on programming, integrating, troubleshooting, and optimizing Photoneo 3D vision systems within robotic and automated assembly applications.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Photoneo vision platforms (PhoXi 3D Scanner, Photoneo Bin Picking Studio) and a strong understanding of industrial automation, robotics, and manufacturing processes. Candidates with similar 3D/machine vision experience (Keyence, Cognex, SICK, etc.) are also encouraged to apply — we're willing to train the right candidate on the Photoneo platform.

Key Responsibilities
- Program and configure Photoneo vision systems (PhoXi 3D Scanner, Bin Picking Studio)
- Develop and optimize 3D vision routines (bin picking, part localization, presence/absence, measurement)
- Integrate vision systems with:
- PLCs (Allen Bradley / Siemens preferred)
- Robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similar)
- Perform onsite commissioning and debug during system launch
- Adjust scanner positioning, calibration, and lighting for optimal performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve production downtime related to vision systems
- Modify existing vision programs to improve reliability and cycle time
- Support production and engineering teams during installation and launch phases
- Document system configurations and updates
Required Qualifications
- Experience programming 3D/machine vision systems (Photoneo experience preferred, but similar platform experience such as Keyence or Cognex will be considered — training provided)
- Experience with:
- Industrial 3D scanner/camera setup & calibration
- Robot-to-vision integration
- Understanding of:
- PLC communication (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, etc.)
- Robot-guided bin picking or part localization concepts
- Ability to read electrical schematics and layout drawings
- Strong troubleshooting skills in live production environments
- Experience in automotive or automated manufacturing preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in robotic assembly or bin-picking lines
- Experience with:
- FANUC iRVision
- Keyence or Cognex vision platforms
- Controls experience (PLC troubleshooting or minor edits)
- Launch support experience
Skills Required
- Experience programming 3D or machine vision systems
- Experience setting up and calibrating industrial 3D scanners or cameras
- Experience with robot-to-vision integration
- Understanding of PLC communication, including EtherNet/IP or Profinet
- Understanding of robot-guided bin picking or part localization concepts
