About the Role
We are looking for a PhD Researcher to join our R&D / Product team and work at the intersection of generative AI and real-world industrial automation. This is a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge research to tangible manufacturing challenges — where determinism, reliability, and safety truly matter.
You will lead research initiatives around generative AI applied to industrial process configuration and optimization, develop capabilities that allow non-technical customers to create their own custom applications within the Fabrex platform, and explore the use of Vision-Language-Action models (VLAs) for robotic automation in real factory environments.
What You'll Do
- Research and develop generative AI solutions for automatic configuration and optimization of industrial processes within Fabrex.app
- Design ML/DL architectures that meet the determinism and reliability requirements of industrial environments
- Develop custom app generation capabilities so non-technical users can create and configure their own solutions using generative AI
- Explore and prototype Vision-Language-Action models (VLAs) for robotic automation in real manufacturing settings
- Evaluate and select foundational models (LLMs, VLMs) for integration into the product
- Define and execute experiments to validate product hypotheses related to AI applied to industry
- Build robust ML/DL pipelines: from training and validation to production deployment with monitoring
- Collaborate with the Product team to translate research breakthroughs into the Fabrex.app roadmap
- Contribute to the company's intellectual property: patents, applied papers, technical documentation
- Stay current with the state of the art in generative AI, robotics, and industrial automation
Requisitos
- Requirements
- PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in software development and AI systems (Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, MLOps
- Deep knowledge of applied generative AI: LLMs, code generation, autonomous agents
- Interest and/or experience in industrial process automation and manufacturing environments
- Understanding of the determinism, reliability, and safety requirements of industrial settings
- Experience or demonstrable interest in robotics, Vision-Language-Action models (VLAs), and perception-action systems
- Familiarity with production ML/DL pipelines: training, validation, deployment, and monitoring
- Ability to translate cutting-edge research into applied, scalable solutions
- High level of English (reading, scientific writing, and communication)
Nice to Have
- Publications in relevant conferences or journals (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ICRA, CoRL, or similar)
- Experience with MLOps tools: experiment tracking (W&B, MLflow), model registry, CI/CD for ML
- Hands-on experience with robotic systems or simulation environments
