Position Title: Pharmacy Technician Supervisor

Pay Range: The pay range for the position is $58,656 - $72,800, commensurate with experience including other factors, such as language, certifications, etc.
Primary Function:
The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for pharmacy technicians and delivery drivers, ensuring efficient and safe pharmacy operations. This role fosters a collaborative, high-performing team, supports quality patient care, and promotes Upham’s mission of advancing health equity. The Supervisor serves as a key operational leader within the pharmacy, driving workflow excellence, staff development, and adherence to regulatory standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all pharmacy technicians and delivery drivers, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and workflow standards.
- Oversee HR responsibilities for technicians and drivers, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, coaching, and discipline.
- Lead training and development initiatives to maintain staff competency and support professional growth.
- Monitor daily pharmacy operations, including prescription filling, packaging, inventory management, and medication delivery.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate expectations, review performance metrics, and address operational or personnel concerns.
- Support the Director of Pharmacy in identifying workflow improvements, staffing needs, and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Board of Pharmacy regulations, as well as 340B, HIPAA, and OSHA requirements.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and equitable work environment that reflects Upham’s mission of improving community health.
Additional Duties:
- Assist in preparing operational and staffing reports for the Director of Pharmacy.
- Participate in community outreach, patient education, and other pharmacy-related initiatives as needed.
- Support pharmacy leadership in process improvement and quality assurance projects.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the pharmacy workspace.
- Serve as a resource for troubleshooting workflow issues and coordinating with other departments.
Qualifications
Minimum Basic Knowledge:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree or equivalent coursework in healthcare preferred.
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License required.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Current certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and active registration with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy required.
- Minimum 3 years of pharmacy technician experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems; familiarity with Liberty and EPIC preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:
- Requires frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 30 lbs), bending, and reaching.
- Must be able to operate pharmacy equipment and computer systems.
- Must communicate clearly and effectively with staff, patients, and providers.
- Must manage multiple tasks in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and repetitive hand and finger movements, with constant use of hands for typing, grasping, writing, and operating computer systems.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 30 lbs. on an occasional basis, with frequent visual attention, hearing, and communication required to perform job duties accurately.
- Work involves regular exposure to pharmacy environment conditions including computer use, patient contact, infectious materials, and handling of medical supplies such as needles and waste materials.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Directly supervises all pharmacy technicians and delivery drivers.
- Responsible for staff scheduling, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Provides operational oversight to ensure compliance with pharmacy procedures and safety standards.
Define Access Level to PHI:
Level 3: Authorized to access limited categories of PHI and specific sections of patient medical records as necessary for supervision, workflow management, and prescription
Skills Required
