JOB PURPOSE:

The Pharmacy Assistant supports the daily operations of the pharmacy by providing efficient customer service, assisting with prescription intake and data entry, processing sales, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment. The Pharmacy Assistant performs assigned duties under the direction and supervision of a Pharmacy Technician and/or Pharmacist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates the pharmacy cash register and processes customer transactions accurately.
  • Assists with prescription intake and prescription data entry under the supervision of a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Processes and rings up prescription (Rx) and over-the-counter (OTC) purchases under appropriate supervision.
  • Assists pharmacy staff with preparing and organizing prescription orders as directed.
  • Provides courteous and professional customer service and assists customers with general pharmacy inquiries within the scope of the position.
  • Assists in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and appearance of the pharmacy and work areas.
  • Helps ensure customers are acknowledged and assisted in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assists pharmacy staff with routine administrative and operational tasks as assigned.
  • Follows all pharmacy policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • Eligible to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination upon meeting applicable eligibility requirements.
  • Previous pharmacy, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional, courteous manner.
  • Ability to learn pharmacy procedures, systems, and terminology quickly.
