ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Able to establish the patients expected outcomes based on nursing diagnosis and implement patient care interventions according to plan of care.
Evaluate the attainment of expected outcomes and effectiveness of patient care.
Participate in patient and family teaching.
Calls patients’ day before surgery to confirm appointment and with specific instructions for NPO status, prep completion, and where to report.
Provide patient education in all areas of responsibility.
Perform pre-op and post op calls/visits with patient.
Creates a sterile field with the ability to monitor and control the environment.
Able to function and participate in PAT process as well as assist in ambulatory where needed.
Organizes and pulls cases according to doctor preference cards. Provide equipment and supplies based on patient needs.
Performs sponge, sharps and instrument counts according to policy and procedure.
Physiologically monitor patient during the surgical procedure and throughout the perioperative experience. Serves as patient advocate.
Function and assist with responsibilities in OR, PACU, Endoscopy and Ambulatory to level of expertise. Prepares specimens for mail out according to Hospital policy and procedure.
Prepare charts accurately. Documents nursing care in a timely and accurate manner. Stocks and orders supplies.
Is able to function in PACU area according to policy and procedure, Endoscopy as circulator or scrub. Functions appropriately in trauma situations, understands the role.
Current on conscious sedation procedures and able to function in this role under direct supervision of a physician or CRNA.
Administration of all medications (I.V., PO, SQ, etc.) and biologicals in accordance to State Law. Maintain current on conscious sedation procedures and able to function in this role under direct supervision of a physician or CRNA.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Current Wyoming Registered Nurse license in good standing
1 – 2 years’ experience in surgery preferred.
Able to function in a circulating role, recovery room, endoscopy, minimal scrubbing and in central sterile.
Must possess communication skills to relate to the public in person
Demonstrate good organizational abilities
Seeks proficiencies in computer applications, e.g. word processing, spread sheets, database, presentation, and project publication.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSURES, REGISTRATIONS
BLS, ACLS, PALS (obtain ACLS and PALS within one year of employment)
TNCC preferred but not required
CNOR preferred but not required
Skills Required
- Current Wyoming Registered Nurse license in good standing
- 1 - 2 years' experience in surgery preferred
- BLS, ACLS, PALS (obtain ACLS and PALS within one year of employment)
- Good communication skills
- Proficient in computer applications
