Part-Time Position - 20 hours/week

The Perinatal Mood Disorder Specialist provides comprehensive support services to birthing individuals who may be at higher risk for developing anxiety and depression during pregnancy and postpartum. This individual works collaboratively with healthcare providers, hospitals and community agencies, facilitates group support, and provides community outreach education throughout the Southern New Jersey region.

Essential Functions:

Contribute to The Cooperative’s commitment to equity and continuous quality improvement that align with the agency’s mission, goals, and advancement * Effectively cross-collaborate with agency staff, leaders, and board members to foster a comprehensive approach to information sharing, working committees, and collective representation * Routinely disseminate relevant information, presentations, trainings, and learning opportunities for internal program and agency staff * When applicable, participate in relevant staff development opportunities (trainings, summits, conferences, etc.) to increase skill development, elevate program goals, and engage staff members with timely key learnings * Spearheaded the planning, coordination, and facilitation of psycho-educational support groups in underserved communities, identifying accessible locations and building strategic partnerships with local agencies to promote emotional wellness for birthing individuals and their support networks. * Provides direct support services to birthing individuals who screen positive through the web-based EPDS process at participating healthcare provider ambulatory locations or via the telephone “warmline” * Creates an individualized plan of care with the at-risk birthing individual through assessment and triages the woman into the appropriate level of care * Provides counseling referral resources and follow-up telephone support to meet the needs of birthing individuals and families * Works collaboratively with staff at participating healthcare provider locations to ensure a positive outcome for the birthing individual * Assist in establishing a model of support that can be sustainable in meeting the needs of birthing individuals * Participates in community outreach education with professionals and consumers in the region * Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or other Health-related field required. Licensed or license eligible.
  • Expert assessment skills
  • One years’ experience in the triage and referral process
  • One years’ experience working with childbearing families in a perinatal or outreach setting
  • One years’ experience in group support facilitation
  • Must present in a professional manner and be able to engage with a wide range of clients and professional associates
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with good leadership, oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license, current insurance policy and car

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to see to read documents and hear well enough to communicate with others
  • Must be able to write, type on a computer, and use a telephone
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Additional requirements to be determined with input from Director and HR

Work Environment:

Travels regularly to sites where traffic, weather, and other environmental conditions may be encountered; otherwise works in a climate-controlled professional office environment generally free from hazards and other adverse working conditions

Skills Required

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other health-related field; licensed or license-eligible

  • Professional presentation and ability to engage a wide range of clients and professional associates
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong leadership, oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and access to a car
  • Ability to see, hear, type, operate a motor vehicle, and lift up to 10 pounds
