ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in performance testing and engineering in AWS-based environments.
  • Develop and execute automated performance test scripts using tools like JMeter and Performance Center.
  • Support load, stress, and endurance testing to evaluate system reliability and scalability.
  • Monitor systems using tools such as New Relic, Splunk, and Amazon CloudWatch.
  • Help create dashboards and alerts to detect performance anomalies.
  • Analyze test results and assist in documenting findings and performance reports.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Log and manage defects using JIRA and participate in triage meetings.
  • Contribute to performance improvement recommendations and capacity planning.
  • Support production monitoring and operational readiness for enterprise applications.
  • Apply basic knowledge of cloud architecture, networking, Linux commands, and security best practices.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • 0–2 years of experience in IT or software development/testing.
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools like Apache JMeter or Performance Center.
  • Basic understanding of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch.
  • Exposure to application frameworks like Spring Boot, Quarkus, or Apache Camel.
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages: Java, Python, Groovy Script,
  • Working knowledge of Linux commands and scripting.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools: New Relic, Splunk, Amazon CloudWatch.
  • Understanding of Agile development practices and SDLC.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Academic Projects (Examples):
  • Web Portal for Student Management: Developed a full-stack Java-based web application with RESTful APIs for managing student records.
  • Linux Automation Scripts: Created shell scripts to automate file backups and system monitoring tasks.
  • API Integration Project: Built and tested REST APIs using Python for a college event registration system.
  • Performance Testing Mini Project: Used JMeter to simulate load on a sample web application and analyzed response times.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Candidates must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Exposure to containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases and cloud platforms like Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Basic understanding of networking, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in AWS, performance testing, or DevOps are a plus.

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. In addition to our competitive base pay, Sparksoft offers health insurance, paid time off, 401K matching, and training. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or other laws.

Maryland Pay Range
$45,000$75,000 USD
