The Role

About the Role

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who can design and run core people systems while building the scaffolding for scale. You’ll own end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, lead our compliance infrastructure, and implement the systems that help us move faster without dropping the ball.

You’ll be the go-to person for employee questions and People Ops initiatives, and you’ll be empowered to fix what’s broken, improve what exists, and introduce what’s missing.

This role does not manage people, but it has outsized influence across the company.

About the Team

We’re a lean, high-impact team spanning two continents. Today, the team includes recruiters, an HRBP, and an HR generalist. We’re looking for a People Ops lead who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and wants to help lay the foundational infrastructure for how we scale.

You’ll be stepping into a high-ownership IC role that touches every corner of the business—building the processes, systems, and workflows that will shape how we operate and support our team globally.

What You’ll Do

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Take full ownership of employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, and transfers, with a clear eye on efficiency and accuracy.

  • Lead a vendor evaluation process and, if needed, scope out implementation of a new HRIS and payroll provider.

  • Implement a rigorous global background check process.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Evaluate and clean up our existing HR systems for data hygiene, usability, and reporting needs.

  • Autonomously support the execution of our People Programs.

  • Finalize and roll out updated core policies and an employee handbook that reflect our growth stage, distributed setup, and compliance needs.

  • Partner with IT and Finance to implement systemic improvements across onboarding, offboarding, and access provisioning.

  • Establish repeatable onboarding/offboarding experiences that consistently hit satisfaction, completion, and compliance targets.

Within 9 months, you will:

  • Operationalize a scalable, data-driven People Ops engine with automated processes and recurring program calendars.

  • Stand up consistent reporting on People metrics (e.g., headcount changes, turnover trends, compensation bands).

  • Develop a roadmap for future state of People systems and policies to support global scale, including contingent workforce support.

What You’ll Bring

  • Systems fluency: you’ve implemented and managed an HR tech stack, and you think in data structures.

  • Strong project management and process design skills: you can create clarity in chaos and get things across the finish line on time.

  • High accountability and low ego: you own the outcomes, not just the tasks, and you don’t mind getting in the weeds when needed.

  • Builder’s mindset with operator’s discipline: you optimize for what’s needed today while building a foundation that can scale.

  • Proven track record owning People Ops in a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment, with a focus on building from 0 → 1.

  • Deep understanding of HR compliance, employment law, and policy management across multiple states in the US and Latin America.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: you explain complex processes simply and build credibility with stakeholders.
