This role sits within our People function in our Amsterdam office, home to over 300 talented professionals, where cross-functional teams design, develop and scale the products that millions of users rely on every day across our Benelux marketplaces, Marktplaats and 2dehands/2ememain.
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on People Operations Lead to take ownership of our day-to-day People operations and improve how they work. Reporting to the HR Director, this is a senior individual-contributor role with no direct reports. Leadership here means taking ownership of our operations, driving improvements and bringing colleagues together to make them happen.
What You Will Do
You’ll be the main point of contact for People Operations, combining hands-on delivery with the autonomy to improve processes and systems. You’ll work closely with our Payroll Specialist on accurate payroll inputs, and partner with People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, IT and external providers to resolve issues and implement improvements.

• Run day-to-day People Operations across the employee lifecycle, ensuring administration, documentation, approvals and system updates are completed accurately and on time.
• Own our HRIS and connected People platforms, keeping data accurate, secure and compliant across HR, payroll, benefits and performance systems.
• Coordinate payroll inputs, salary and leave changes and benefits enrolment, and be the go-to person for employees and managers on People processes and benefits.
• Redesign workflows and use automation and AI to reduce manual work and create simpler, more reliable processes with appropriate controls.
• Maintain operational policies, documentation and reporting, working with relevant colleagues and external providers to support compliance and resolve issues.

The challenge: Balance dependable day-to-day delivery with focused improvements that make People operations simpler, more accurate and easier for employees and managers.
Who You Are

• 5+ years of strong, hands-on People Operations or HR generalist experience, ideally in a fast-paced, technology-led organisation.
• Proven experience managing an HRIS, with a solid understanding of how employee data flows across HR, payroll, benefits and other platforms.
• Experienced in administering employee changes, payroll inputs and benefits.
• Ownership-driven, someone who follows work through and takes pride in delivering accurate, dependable work.
• Able to turn inefficient ways of working into practical processes, with a strong improvement mindset, curiosity and willingness to learn.
• Working knowledge of Dutch employment law, strong project management skills and the ability to communicate effectively across teams and providers.
• Must be fluent in Dutch (B2+) and English. (C1+), written and spoken. 

Bonus Points

• Experience configuring and administering HiBob.
• Experience with HR-system integrations or People reporting.
• Experience using automation or AI to improve processes or reduce manual work.

This role is based out of our Amsterdam office. While we offer flexibility, we value in-person collaboration and encourage our teams to spend regular time in the office.
