People Development Specialist
Purpose of the Position:
As a leading News organization, SCMP has been navigating a dynamic digital landscape where our people's skillsets and ways of working continue to evolve. The People Development Specialist will play a key role in driving this ongoing growth by implementing learning, people development, employee engagement, and internal communication initiatives. Reporting to the Deputy Head of People, this role bridges developmental initiatives with strategic business priorities, particularly around AI capabilities, while leading internal communication and performance management cycles to ensure our teams are future-ready and deeply connected to SCMP's culture and values.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support end-to-end learning and development activities, including training needs analysis, programme coordination, course development, related logistics, and evaluation to align with shifting business priorities.
- Support the AI enablement programme by coordinating learning initiatives, promoting the adoption of AI tools, and assisting in the development of AI-related learning solutions and resources.
- Champion learning culture: Promote a culture of continuous development across the organisation.
- Manage the project execution and cohort experience for the Graduate Trainee and Internship programs, while driving campus campaigns and employer branding initiatives to attract top talents early.
- Support the execution of employee engagement and culture programs that strengthen organizational values and enhance the overall employee experience.
- Partner with internal stakeholders across teams to deliver cross-functional people initiatives, company town halls, and impactful internal communications that drive alignment and energy.
- Facilitate company-wide performance management cycles (Goal Setting and Year-end reviews) by managing project timelines, tracking progress, and collaborating with People Partners to ensure smooth, timely completion.
- Participate in ad-hoc People Department projects and initiatives as required to support broader business goals.
Job Requirements:
- University graduate with a minimum of 3–5 years of relevant working experience.
- Hands-on professional HR experience, preferably with a background in Learning & Development, Employee Engagement, or Organizational Development.
- Experience with AI enablement, digital learning, and technology adoption initiatives is a strong advantage.
- A natural curiosity in staying ahead of industry trends: keeping an eye on the latest trends in engagement, culture building, learning & development, and employer branding
- Possess natural energy with a genuine passion for supporting culture development and the ability to think strategically about organizational learning.
- Must be a fluent/native English speaker with exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Chinese is a plus for day-to-day interaction with stakeholders and peers.
- Excellent interpersonal to build partnerships and establish rapport at all levels.
Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
