Are you passionate about using your lived experience to help others navigate their recovery journey? The Lighthouse Recovery Center, in partnership with The Recovery Council, is seeking a dedicated, self-motivated Full-Time Peer Support Specialist.
This unique role is funded through a specialized collaborative grant aimed at expanding recovery efforts in our community. You will be instrumental in building a peer support program from the ground up, providing direct mentorship, and conducting vital in-reach services within the Ross County Jail.

Program Development: Build, launch, and refine a peer support program aligned with the core goals of the grant.

Direct Support: Provide one-on-one peer support, mentorship, and advocacy to individuals in recovery.

Jail In-Reach: Conduct regular in-reach activities at the Ross County Jail to engage individuals and prepare them for re-entry.

Group Facilitation: Lead peer-led support groups and coordinate sober social activities.

Community Connection: Link participants to vital local resources (housing, treatment, employment, etc.).

Documentation: Diligently track service hours, participant activities, and outreach contacts to meet grant reporting requirements.
Certification: Active Peer Support Certification is highly preferred. An exception will be made for candidates who have the ability and commitment to complete the required certification training within the first 2 months of hire.

Lived Experience: Personal lived experience with mental health challenges and/or substance use disorder, with a sustained period of stable recovery.

Skills: Strong communication skills, basic computer literacy (for tracking hours/data), and the ability to work independently.

Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (mileage will be reimbursed).

Background: Ability to pass necessary background checks for entry into the Ross County Jail.

The Recovery Council is a non-profit 501(c)3 treatment provider located in southern Ohio. It provides evidence-based treatment services for substance use disorders and mental health care, offering a variety of options including outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential treatment, and recovery and transitional housing, all tailored to meet the individual needs of each client.
