Purpose and Scope:
The PDM Digital Supply Chain Solution Engineer is responsible for shaping and assuring digital solutions across three core areas: SAP S/4HANA and ECC supply chain implementations, supply chain network design, and control tower and end-to-end supply chain visibility.
The role translates business, operational, data and regulatory requirements into scalable, secure and compliant solution designs for manufacturing-focused supply chain management. It works across demand and supply planning, procurement, production planning, manufacturing execution integration, materials management, inventory and quality-related processes, ensuring that SAP and connected platforms support an integrated global manufacturing supply chain operating model.
Working with Business Process Owners, System Owners, DigitalX, Enterprise Architecture, Quality, Validation, Data and Analytics teams, and delivery partners, the role leads solution design, technical assurance, integration, testing and implementation activities through stabilisation and transition to operations in a GxP-regulated environment.
- SAP S/4HANA and ECC Supply Chain Implementations
- Support solution design for SAP S/4HANA and ECC implementations, upgrades, rollouts and process harmonisation across supply chain capabilities.
- Translate business requirements into fit-to-standard process designs and functional requirements.
- Define solutions spanning relevant SAP manufacturing supply chain capabilities, including demand and supply planning, procurement, materials management, inventory management, production planning, manufacturing execution integration and quality-related processes.
- Ensure designs support global templates while addressing justified site, market, regulatory and operational requirements.
- Supply Chain Network Design
- Shape digital capabilities that support supply chain network design, including manufacturing footprint, plant, contract-manufacturing, sourcing and supply-network scenarios.
- Define data, modelling and integration requirements for scenario analysis covering capacity, demand, inventory, lead times, service levels, cost, risk and resilience.
- Partner with supply chain stakeholders to translate network strategy questions into repeatable analytical models, decision criteria and measurable outcomes.
- Ensure network-design solutions use governed master data, transparent assumptions and traceable scenario outputs that can be connected to planning and execution processes.
- Control Tower and Supply Chain Visibility
- Design control tower and visibility capabilities that provide timely, role-based insight across the end-to-end supply chain.
- Define event, milestone, alert, exception and workflow requirements across suppliers, contract manufacturers, production sites, inventory locations, markets, customers and enterprise systems.
- Establish requirements for dashboards, operational KPIs, drill-down analysis, predictive insights, exception prioritisation and coordinated response management.
- Define integration across SAP ECC or S/4HANA, planning and manufacturing platforms, external supply partners, data platforms and analytics tools using APIs, middleware, EDI and event-based patterns.
- Ensure visibility solutions have clear data ownership, business rules, thresholds, escalation paths and measurable decision-making value.
- Delivery, Testing and Validation
- Support assigned solution workstreams from discovery and design through build, integration, deployment, stabilisation and transition to support.
- Define the technical test strategy and support system integration testing and UAT support, including end-to-end processes, interfaces, data, roles, controls, regression and applicable non-functional testing.
- Ensure test scripts, test data, evidence, defects, retesting and approvals comply with applicable GxP validation and change-control requirements.
- Stakeholder and Partner Leadership
- Act as a principal digital interface for global supply chain stakeholders, business process owners, technology teams, quality functions and external partners.
- Facilitate requirements, design, testing and decision workshops, clearly communicating solution options, risks, dependencies and trade-offs.
- Challenge vendors and delivery partners on solution quality, fit-to-standard, estimates, delivery risks and long-term supportability.
- Maintain transparent design decisions, assumptions, dependencies, risks and acceptance criteria.
Essential qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
