Your Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Analyst to join our Financial Services team, reporting directly to the Payroll Tax Manager. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our payroll operations, with a strong emphasis on payroll tax compliance and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of payroll processes and a working knowledge of relevant tax regulations.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative tax support by scanning and uploading tax notices to ADP Smart Compliance.
- Maintain accurate records for State Income Tax (SIT) and State Unemployment Insurance (SUI), including account numbers, online logins/passwords, and SUI rates. Contact agencies as necessary to resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure proper tax set-up and withholding for employees based on their work location and state of residency. Communicate with employees when they have questions about their tax deductions and W2s.
- Calculate bonus and other repayments for terminating or otherwise overpaid employees. Work with HR Benefits 401k team to adjust resulting deductions and match.
- Manage distribution of new/updated tax forms to stakeholders as updates are released by tax agencies.
- Serve as the first point of contact for internal or external tax-related questions, escalating complex inquiries to the Tax Manager or Payroll Manager as necessary.
- Test system and legislative patches to verify readiness for production.
- Prepare and upload balance adjustments for tax and 401k issues.
- Prepare quarterly and monthly reports and check requests for agencies not serviced by ADP.
- Perform reconciliations utilizing intermediate Excel skills to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.
- Create ad hoc reports for executives by extracting and consolidating data from multiple sources to support strategic decision-making and regulatory reporting.
- Sort and file incoming tax-related mail and address correspondence that requires follow-up or response
- Assist with additional tasks as assigned by the Tax Manager.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Knowledge of payroll processes including understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to gather and integrate data from disparate sources, create customized reports, and accurately assess the reliability and validity of source data
- Demonstrate ability to work both in a team environment and independently
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Oracle Payroll experience (preferred, not required)
- Multi-state experience (required) and Global Mobility experience (highly preferred)
- Acquisition experience (ideal)
Your Education and Experience
- A degree in Accounting or a related discipline
- Three to five years of directly related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
