Job Description
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately preparing and processing company payrolls, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), generating and managing audit reports, conducting system testing, and proactively identifying improvement opportunities. This role also ensures adherence to key controls.
Essential Functions

Execute payroll activities for salaried exempt, non-exempt, and hourly employees on bi-weekly and weekly schedules.

Audit HR payroll data from Workday and external sources, ensuring accuracy.

Prepare and audit payroll batches in ADP, making corrections as needed.

Calculate pro-rated salaries for mid-period hires and terminations.

Prepare documentation to support payroll processing and ensure tax compliance.

Process payroll adjustments, special calculations (e.g., retro payments, off-cycle loads), and support Workday configuration/testing.

Provide payroll reports to internal and external stakeholders, including tax authorities.

Assist with payroll for mergers, acquisitions, and system updates.

Handle wage garnishments, employee inquiries, and support the annual compensation cycle.

Cover other payroll roles and participate in department meetings for process improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Education / Experience / Skills:

Previous experience processing multi-state payroll using ADP and other payroll software.

Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as a self-starter.
Preferences

Experience with local tax withholding requirements

Experience with Workday payroll and time tracking

Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
Organizational Relationship/Scope:
Individual contributor role that will work cross functionally with HR and Finance functions.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment. Currently the Company has a hybrid working model but is subject to change based upon business needs.
