Responsibilities include:
- Being a source of knowledge and support. Employees have questions, you have the answers (or at least, you know how to find them).
- Being a stickler for the details. Every DOB, SSN, insurance deduction, and 401k contribution matters. You will work closely with our People Ops team and external partners to ensure accuracy of earnings and withholdings.
- Being data and technology savvy. We haven’t touched a piece of paper in years. Pivot tables and lookups are used frequently and you should feel comfortable navigating multiple sources of information with a focus on data quality and efficiency.
- Being someone with unwavering character. You’ll need to maintain the confidentiality of private information and approach situations from a place of empathy and consistency.
The day-to-day may include:
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records for all team members, through our HRIS (Rippling) and within benefit portals to align with payroll;
- Pulling reports for data analysis and projections in our HRIS;
- Working alongside internal Finance team and external groups to complete annual audits and filings to ensure compliance;
- Understanding process updates as they relate to new hires/exits and other employee life-cycle changes like state moves, marriage, etc.
- Acting as a liaison with team members regarding payroll, answering questions and providing information;
- Coordinating with our Benefits Specialist on leaves of absence; and
- Identifying and recommending updates to our People-related systems and tools.
Must-have qualifications:
- 4+ years experience an employee-support role with payroll processing being a primary function;
- Multi-state payroll experience with an employee headcount of 100+;
- Working within one or more common HRIS and Payroll platforms (e.g., ADP, Rippling, Paylocity, or similar);
- Knowledge of common HR laws and regulations that relate to payroll functions such as unemployment insurance, COBRA, FMLA, 401k, etc;
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets – including common formulas (sumifs, countifs), pivot tables, and lookups (xlookup/vlookup) – and other office software with Gsuite experience preferred;
- Impeccable attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong time management; and
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly and efficiently collaborate with staff at various levels.
Preferred qualifications that will set you apart:
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions and/or multi-entity payroll processing;
- Academic experience in Accounting, HR, Business and/or professional development in these fields;
- Experience training and mentoring staff in a People/work capacity;
