We are currently recruiting for a Payroll Manager to join the team here at Evotec.
As Payroll Manager you would be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for the organisation, including compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role will both operational and strategic, overseeing payroll operations, drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead project work, whilst taking full responsibility for the practical day to day payroll processing.
Job Title: HR Operations Payroll Manager
Location: Hybrid or Remote (UK based)
Reports to: HR Operations Team Leader
Salary: Between £40,000-£48,000 depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Processing payrolls for all UK based employees, including calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions for monthly payroll.
- Ownership of continuous improvement projects to drive optimisation within the payroll function and an improved employee experience.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for payroll operations.
- Prepare and analyse payroll reports, including gender pay gap reporting.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing of new hires, terminations, promotions, and other payroll-related changes.
- Monitor and implement changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Provide excellent customer service to employees and respond to payroll-related inquiries and issues.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll-related information (e.g., salaries, tax records, personal data) in full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent high level of payroll expertise in large, complex organisations.
- Significant and demonstrable experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
- In-depth knowledge of UK payroll laws and regulations.
- Highly experienced with payroll software and HRIS systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Able to work independently and autonomously.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Desirable Knowledge/Experience
- Experience with outsourced and in sourced payroll operating models
- Project management or process improvement experience
