Payroll & Accounts Receivable Specialist

Assembly Label is looking for a Payroll & Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Finance team at our Alexandria Head Office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to own payroll and accounts receivable across the group's Australian and New Zealand entities. You'll be the go-to authority on payroll legislation and compliance within a growing brand. We'd especially like to hear from candidates who have worked on Payroll or HRIS implementations, and experience with Employment Hero is preferred.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Payroll & Accounts Receivable Specialist owns end-to-end payroll delivery and the accounts receivable function across the group. You'll set the standards and controls both functions run to, act as the subject matter expert on Australian and New Zealand payroll requirements, and work with the Financial Controller and leadership on reporting, cash flow and continuous improvement. This is a varied, full-time role for someone who is highly accurate, stays calm under deadline pressure and enjoys owning a function and making it better.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

• Own end-to-end payroll delivery and compliance across all Australian and New Zealand entities
• Act as the group's subject matter authority on Australian payroll legislation (PAYG withholding, STP Phase 2, superannuation guarantee, Fair Work Act and awards, holiday pay) and New Zealand requirements (PAYE, KiwiSaver, holiday pay)
• Own payroll controls and segregation of duties, and lead fixes when gaps are identified
• Review and sign off monthly payroll GL reconciliations, resolving escalated or complex discrepancies
• Set direction on payroll system improvements and lead the rollout of process or platform changes
• Own the Weekly Wages Report and the wages input into budgeting and forecasting, working with FP&A
• Lodge superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax and workers compensation obligations by their due dates
• Act as the point of contact for internal and external payroll audits, STP finalisation and the annual workers compensation declaration

Accounts Receivable

• Own the accounts receivable function across our wholesale trading partners
• Set collections strategy and ageing targets, and lead the resolution of material or escalated disputes
• Own reconciliation methods and standards, and prepare and review complex reconciliations
• Build senior relationships with key customer finance contacts to protect cash flow and trading terms
• Own accounts receivable month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations, with sign-off responsibility

Reporting

• Report accounts receivable performance and risk (ageing, exposure, disputes) to the Financial Controller and leadership
• Deliver payroll on time and accurately across all entities, with all statutory lodgements on time and no penalties
• Keep debtor days and overdue balances within agreed targets

About You

• Senior payroll experience across multiple entities
• Deep knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and awards (New Zealand payroll experience highly regarded)
• Proven AR ownership, including collections and dispute resolution
• Have led a payroll system or process change from start to finish
• Experienced with payroll and accounting systems, with strong Excel skills
• Finance or payroll qualification, or equivalent
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail
• Sound judgement under deadline pressure
