Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking First-Line Payloads Engineering Managers (Level K) in Renton, Washington to lead high-performing BCA Payloads engineering teams providing a variety of technical solutions and complex project oversight in support of existing and future commercial airplane products.
The successful candidate will have strong engineering expertise, ability to guide multi-faceted projects to completion, possess outstanding communication skills, and demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
Assignment of final responsibility could be in the 737 Interiors or Seat Integration Team (SIT) in Renton. Final determination will be based on best fit and alignment of experience.
Position Responsibilities:
- Keeps safety and quality at the forefront of all activities.
- Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering.
- Leads development of cabin interior solutions in support of current and future commercial airplane products.
- Provides oversight to complex projects; integrating multiple considerations including: suppliers, interfacing engineering teams, production system needs, regulations, and airline requirements.
- Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
- Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
- Manages, develops and motivates employees.
Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment: To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering related role.
- Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Domain knowledge of aerospace cabin and cargo products in an engineering role.
- Experience with Boeing Commercial Airplane statement of work.
- Experience leading design engineering teams in aerospace statement of work.
- Experience with commercial aircraft certification processes and regulations.
- Proficient in solving complex problems and managing project schedules.
- Experience working across the value stream including design, supplier production, airplane production, and fleet support.
- Experience leading and managing complex projects from conception to completion.
- Demonstrated ability in team building, mentoring, coaching, and employee development to enhance team performance and engagement.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Summary pay range: $147,050 - $198,950
