Description
The Paving Equipment Manager serves as the primary equipment leader in the field, responsible for advancing operator accountability, improving equipment uptime, and reducing maintenance costs through data-driven analysis and hands on experience with the field. This role bridges field operations and the Equipment Division by promoting a culture of ownership, optimizing maintenance planning, and driving continuous improvement across paving crews.
1. Advance Operator Care Culture and Accountability in the Field:
- Oversee daily equipment upkeep & continuously audit the quality of upkeep.
- Promote a culture of ownership and responsibility among operators by enforcing Operator Care Standards.
- Train field leadership (superintendents & foremen) to ensure they understand and support the above standards to drive consistent accountability and a culture of equipment ownership across all paving crews.
- Act as a primary liaison between the Equipment Division and paving crews to ensure clear communication, field accountability, and continuous improvement based on real-time conditions.
2. Optimize Paving Equipment Uptime and Reduce Maintenance Costs via Data Analytics:
- Develop, track and trend drillable metrics on paving equipment such as, downtime, utilization, inspection rate, emergency maintenance work orders & cost, wear item history, ANA, etc.
- Analyze inspection and performance data to identify patterns, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Produce regular reports summarizing findings, initiatives taken, and measurable impacts.
3. Partner with Equipment Division to Optimize Fleet Performance:
- Work with Equipment Superintendent to develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans and ensure field cooperation with these plans.
- Super-user knowledge and proficiency with all maintenance software platforms
- Champion wear item measurement, tracking and forecasting of major repairs on critical paving pieces.
- Develop and manage detailed Job Plans for repeated major repairs to increase mechanic efficiencies
