This entry-level position in the maintenance series involves a combination of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks, including general landscaping, cleaning, and equipment operation.


Parks Serviceperson functions include but are not limited to the following.

 

  • General Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain all City park sites and public grounds. Perform specific maintenance tasks during designated periods.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize park restrooms, ensuring all facilities are user-friendly. Empty trash cans and pick up litter throughout various parks. Sweep, mop floors, and clean countertops in park facilities.
  • Landscaping: Mow grass and maintain clean edges along sidewalks. Operate weed eaters to maintain areas around buildings and other structures. Engage in gardening tasks such as trimming bushes, planting shrubs and flowers, weeding, and mulching.
  • Tree Maintenance: Trim trees using chainsaws and bucket trucks, focusing on low hanging branches, dead limbs, and saplings.
  • Irrigation System Maintenance: Ensure all plants and shrubs receive adequate water by checking and maintaining sprinkler systems. Replace broken sprinkler heads and repair timers.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate a variety of parks maintenance equipment as required.
  • Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

SALARY:

  • Hiring range - $37,918 - $39,811 ($18.23 - $19.14)
  • Salary range - $37,918 - $56,888

  • Ability to perform cleaning and sanitation of park facilities (restrooms, trash removal, sweeping, mopping)
  • Ability to maintain and repair irrigation/sprinkler systems (replace heads, repair timers)
  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks (stoop, kneel, climb, balance)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in varied outdoor weather conditions
