The Role
Support criminal defense attorneys from client intake through case resolution. Maintain case files, track court dates and deadlines, organize discovery, prepare and e-file pleadings, build trial notebooks, communicate with clients, and coordinate with bond companies, jails, and pretrial services. The role requires strong organization, discretion, sound judgment, and calm communication while managing a deadline-driven caseload.
Summary Generated by Built In
Behind every criminal defense case, there's someone keeping it all together — the discovery, the deadlines, the client who's scared and needs a steady voice between hearings. That's this job.
We're looking for a Criminal Paralegal to support our Criminal Defense attorneys from intake through resolution. You'll own the moving parts of each case — files, discovery, court calendars, client communication — so our attorneys can stay focused on strategy and the courtroom. For many of our clients, you'll be the most familiar face at the firm between court dates, which means this role runs on judgment, discretion, and a calm, professional presence just as much as it runs on organization.
What You’ll Do
Keep every case file organized and current, from intake through disposition
Track court dates, filing deadlines, and speedy-trial windows so nothing slips
Request, review, and organize discovery — police reports, body-cam footage, lab results — and flag what matters to the attorney
Prepare and e-file pleadings and motions ahead of deadlines
Build trial notebooks and support attorneys in court
Be the client's point of contact between hearings — relaying updates, answering questions, and keeping them informed
Coordinate with bond companies, jails, and pretrial services on custody and release status
What We’re Looking For
- Associate's/Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
- 2+ years of criminal defense or prosecution paralegal experience
- Comfort with e-filing systems and local court procedures
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a full, deadline-driven caseload
- A calm, professional communication style — including with clients who are under real stress
- Sound judgment handling sensitive, confidential information
What You’ll Get
We value our paralegal team as the backbone of our firm and compensate accordingly. We offer a "Big Law" structure with a "Boutique" focus on people.

- Investment in your success: A full week of training will start you off with success as well as the offer to support CLEs as needed.
- Real Support: You focus on the strategy; our marketing and administrative engine handles the rest.
