P2 Mission Solutions designed, produced, & tested Medical Isolation Systems, a complex system integration responding to Advanced Biological Containment avoidance & mitigation.
About the role:
Our Production Manager's overarching responsibilities include planning and managing production processes, optimizing resource allocation, ensuring product quality and cost control, continuously improving production efficiency, and maintaining a safe work environment. They oversee inventory management, supervise and train production staff, and coordinate equipment maintenance. Communication with other departments, crisis management, and compliance with regulations are also essential aspects of their role. Additionally, they focus on sustainability, capacity planning, and ongoing learning to adapt to industry trends and drive innovation in production operations.
Reports to: Operations Manager
Key responsibilities:
- Production Planning: Develop production plans and schedules to meet production targets and customer demand. This includes considering resource allocation, machine availability, and workforce requirements.
- Resource Management: Allocate and manage resources such as labor, equipment, materials, and facilities to optimize production efficiency and minimize waste.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control production costs to ensure that the operation stays within budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-effective production methods.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to ensure that raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods are maintained at optimal levels to meet production demands while minimizing carrying costs.
- Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications. This includes monitoring product quality, conducting inspections, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices to create a safe working environment for employees. Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety inspections.
- Supervision and Training: Manage and lead production staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance. Foster a positive work culture and motivate the team to achieve production goals.
- Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate maintenance and repair of production equipment to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Production Reporting: Generate production reports and performance metrics to track key performance indicators (KPIs). Use data analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Communication: Maintain open communication channels with other departments such as sales, procurement, quality, and engineering to ensure a smooth flow of information and collaboration.
- Crisis Management: Address any production-related issues or emergencies promptly and efficiently to minimize disruptions to production schedules.
- Environmental Sustainability: Implement sustainable manufacturing practices to minimize the environmental impact of production processes and reduce waste.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, quality standards, and legal requirements.
- Capacity Planning: Evaluate production capacity and plan for expansion or contraction as needed to meet changing market demands.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in production management to remain competitive and innovative.
- Overall, a Production Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that production processes are efficient, and cost-effective, and produce high-quality products while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in production management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in production software, planning software, and equipment.
- Problem-solving abilities and a track record of process improvements.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality control.
- Must be a US Citizen
