What We Do

The Outside Grounds team supports event set-up and tear-down, grounds maintenance, snow removal, waste management, and complex operations using heavy equipment, vehicles, and specialized tools.

As the Outside Grounds Supervisor, you will lead and oversee the daily operations of the Outside Grounds department. You will be responsible for planning and prioritizing work, directing team members, coordinating with Event Operations and other departments, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

This is a working supervisor position that requires hands-on participation alongside your team. You will regularly operate equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, tractors, loaders, dump trucks, and other machinery to support event operations, deliveries, snow removal, and grounds maintenance activities.

The Outside Grounds Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, enforcing organizational safety policies, ensuring OSHA compliance, monitoring equipment condition, coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance, and developing team members through coaching and training.

Requirements

What You Need

-Significant experience operating heavy equipment, including forklifts, skid steers, tractors, loaders, and dump trucks, as well as experience using hand, power, and landscaping tools.

-Previous supervisory or leadership experience, including scheduling staff, assigning work, training employees, and ensuring accountability for performance and safety standards. Strong communication skills and the ability to lead diverse teams in a fast-paced environment are essential.

-A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required. Candidates must also possess a clean and current MVR and successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.

-Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

-Able to stand, walk, bend, and work on their feet for extended periods.

-Comfortable with working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

-Able to work safely around livestock and other animals.

-Able to communicate fluently in English.

Physical Demands

National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied surfaces. In this role, individuals will experience prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending. 

Scheduling Requirements

As our schedule is based on events booked throughout the year, flexibility is required. This position will regularly work weekends, holidays, evenings, overnight hours, and extended shifts during major events, including the National Western Stock Show. Like almost all NWSS team members, this position will need to be on-site every day during Stock Show, typically for 12-16 hours at a time.
