JOB SUMMARY:
The position of Outdoor Pursuits Specialist is a part-time position with most weeks averaging about 10 hours/week but could be up to 40 hours during big events. The responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting with kid’s events, day to day functions associated with retails sales, and naturalist activities. This position will work on the weekends as well as some late afternoons and evenings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist with day-to-day functions associated with the retail at Ogeechee Outfitters Marina Store, to include but not limited to merchandise sales, generating daily sales reports, general store upkeep, receiving and stocking.
2. Expected to attend and assist with running all kid’s programing such as summer camps, biweekly Junior Naturalist programming, holiday themed Kid’s Night Outs, and more
3. Assist Naturalist and ODP staff with program preparation and planning
4. Help with additional Naturalist or ODP-related tasks and programming as required or related to long term professional development goals
5. Maintains the interior and exterior of the Ogeechee Outfitters Marina Store in all aspects of a clean and neat facility.
6. Assist with booking trips, events, and other Outdoor Pursuit’s activities and ensures that accurate billing is processed.
7. Provides a professional, hospitable, and courteous environment to all members, guests, and prospects.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures that all members, guests and co-workers are treated in a friendly and respectful manner in accordance with the standards of excellence of The Ford Field and River Club.
2. Assists in other departments and performs additional related duties as required.
3. Understands and follows policies and procedures of the department and The Ford Field and River Club overall.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Experience with children’s education/camps
3. Excellent customer service skills required.
4. Basic computer skills
5. Strong communication skills.
6. Professional, friendly and outgoing attitude, appearance and demeanor required.
7. Valid driver’s license required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, walking for long periods of time, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Lifts 50 pounds. Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation on the telephone in a noisy environment.
