OS, Virtualization and Hardware-Operations Support - UNIX (HP-UX, IBM-AIX, Solaris)
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Solaris 10/11 operating systems, including kernel tuning and system upgrades.
Virtualization & Storage: Administer Solaris Zones, LDOMs (Logical Domains), and manage storage using ZFS, SVM, or VxVM.
Maintenance & Patching: Perform proactive monitoring, firmware upgrades, and patch management using pkg tools.
Troubleshooting: Resolve complex hardware, software, and networking issues (DNS, NIS, NFS).
Security & Compliance: Implement security measures and ensure compliance with policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Strong proficiency in Unix/Solaris OS, shell scripting, and cluster management (Sun Cluster/Veritas).
Certifications: Oracle Certified Solaris Administrator (OCA/OCP) is generally preferred.
Tools: Experience with tools like Oracle Ops Center.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
ITIL or similar certification is sometimes required.
