Overview
The Oracle Developer supports development, enhancement, and maintenance of Oracle-based components across the Loan Guaranty Service (LGY) ecosystem. The role designs, develops, and optimizes PL/SQL packages, queries, and data integration routines to maintain legacy functionality while enabling transition to the modernized LGY platform. The developer partners with product teams to refactor legacy logic, improve performance, and integrate Oracle data with Salesforce, AWS, microservices, and APIs. Success requires deep PL/SQL expertise, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work in fast-moving agile environments, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, secure solutions that support LGY’s mission.
Key Functions
- Design, develop, and maintain PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and performance-optimized queries supporting LGY business functions.
- Analyze and refactor legacy Oracle code to improve quality, reduce technical debt, and support modernization patterns.
- Build and maintain data integrations between Oracle components and Salesforce, AWS, APIs, and microservices.
- Support ETL development, data migration, and transformation routines for legacy-to-modern platform transitions.
- Participate in solution design discussions, providing insight into Oracle schema structure, performance considerations, and data flow.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and prepare remediation scripts following VA change control processes.
- Produce technical documentation including schema diagrams, data flow mappings, and design specifications.
- Support automated testing and CI/CD activities by writing testable code and participating in code reviews.
- Collaborate with Operations, Security, and Product teams to ensure compliance with VA requirements, ATO standards, and secure coding practices.
- Attend daily standups to report progress, blockers, and risks.
- Create high-quality deliverables with guidance from team leads and align with LGY DevSecOps practices.
- Maintain positive relationships with client stakeholders and delivery team members.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
- An additional 2 years of experience with an Associate’s Degree.
- An additional 4 years of experience with a high school diploma.
- Expertise in Oracle PL/SQL development, including performance tuning and query optimization.
- Strong understanding of Oracle 12c+ features, database design, and data modeling.
- Experience integrating Oracle data with cloud or API-based systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to shift priorities quickly in fast-paced delivery environments.
- Demonstrates leadership in the face of ambiguity and drives work to completion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications or Skills
- Existing Public Trust clearance at the Department of Veterans Affairs or another federal agency.
- Experience supporting federal mortgage or loan systems, including VA LGY, FHA, USDA, or lender/servicer platforms.
- Experience with AWS or Salesforce data integrations.
- Proficiency with SQL tools, data modeling tools, and ETL frameworks.
- Experience using ServiceNow, GitHub, Jira, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps environments.

- Location: 100% Remote (US-based)
- Hours: 40 hours/week with availability during core business hours of 8am-5pm ET
- Start date: ASAP
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Salary: $70,000-$110,000
