POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Operational Excellence Engineer III – Transactional Processes leads cross-functional improvement initiatives across business functions including Human Resources, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Planning, Shipping & Receiving, Customer Service, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Finance. This role applies Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence methodologies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, optimize enterprise system utilization, and drive sustainable business results. The position partners with business leaders and IT teams to improve processes, leverage technology, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

 

  • Lead cross-functional process improvement projects delivering measurable gains in efficiency, quality, service, and cost.
  • Facilitate improvement events and apply Lean, Operational Excellence, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Develop and analyze process maps using tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Swim Lane Diagrams, SIPOCs, and process flowcharts.
  • Utilize DMAIC, PDCA, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, A3 Thinking, and other CI tools to solve business process challenges.
  • Partner with HR, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance, Customer Service, and other transactional functions to identify and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with IT and functional teams to optimize workflows within ERP/MRP, HRIS, Payroll, Accounting, and other enterprise systems.
  • Support workflow automation, process digitization, KPI development, standard work creation, and change management activities.
  • Coach employees and support the development of a continuous improvement culture.
  • Mentor junior OpX team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

 

  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Experience using: 
    • Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
    • Swim Lane Mapping
    • SIPOC Analysis
    • DMAIC
    • PDCA
    • Root Cause Analysis / 5 Whys
    • A3 Problem Solving
    • Kaizen Events
    • Standard Work
  • Experience leading cross-functional improvement projects with measurable results.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, communication, and change management skills.
  • Ability to analyze business processes, transactional workflows, and performance data to identify and implement improvements.
  • Preferred: Advanced understanding of enterprise business systems including ERP/MRP, HRIS, Payroll, Accounting, Procurement, and Supply Chain applications.
  • Preferred: Experience optimizing business processes through system improvements, automation, reporting, and technology-enabled solutions.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in Operational Excellence, process improvement, business process optimization, or transactional operations.
  • Required: Professional-level experience with some or all, manufacturing-based enterprise systems, including ERP/MRP, HRIS, Payroll, Accounting, and Supply Chain platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting HR, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Customer Service, or other transactional functions.
  • Preferred: Experience leading process improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Primarily office-based work requiring frequent sitting, computer usage, communication, and participation in workshops and meetings. Occasional travel to manufacturing, warehouse, or operational areas may be required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Professional office environment with frequent collaboration across business functions. Periodic interaction with manufacturing and warehouse operations may be required to support end-to-end process improvement efforts.
