POSITION IS REMOTE
The Opto-Mechanical Designer will be responsible for the design and modeling of mechanical components to interface with optical elements such as lenses, mirrors, diffractive elements and filters. The candidate will design and model the mechanical means to mount and position these elements in an optical system. The designer will also need to be able to develop detailed drawings of these optical elements and overall optical system as well as fabrication and assembly drawings for the mechanical hardware and optical assemblies.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- T/SCI Secret Clearance
- Education: Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience or equivalent with total 7+ years of related experience
- Specific knowledge related to the mechanical design mounts and modeling of opto-mechanical systems. Proficient in CAD software (Solid Works, NX), providing innovative and practical mechanical solutions in support of optical system development.
- Ability to work all phases of opto-mechanical subsystems from the conceptual design layout, package prototyping, fixture/tooling design, development of mechanical attachment methods/tools for optimal optical alignment including system level assembly and interface drawings (ICD)
- Develop assembly and test procedures and support all levels of optical subsystem integration and tests and report as necessary.
- Support trade studies and recommend system architecture and design approach. Must be capable of leading the development of design concepts for optic handling equipment and support development of test support equipment.
- Conduct analysis and evaluation of a design concept to produce realistic assessment of development and manufacturing risks. Develop strategies for mitigating risks.
- Work with other engineers, technicians, manufacturing and quality engineers in a team environment.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations and support project level reviews. Prior experience with NASA or other work related to space flight hardware Location: Work can be performed remotely
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- BS in a technical field
- Proficient in NX or SolidWorks computer aided software tool
Basic Compensation:
Jobs on this contract range from $81,700 - $122,600.
The offered rate will be based on the position, contract affordability, the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
