The role
Raydar is recruiting for this opportunity through the Paraform network. The position is with our client. Own the optical path from pulsed laser through spectrometer as an Optical Engineer. You will improve signal quality on the bench and maintain consistent performance on a moving industrial line.
What you'll do
- Design laser excitation, beam delivery, collection optics, and spectrometer coupling.
- Integrate and tune lasers, mirrors, lenses, coatings, and fiber coupling.
- Develop alignment and calibration procedures that withstand vibration, heat, and dust.
- Partner with mechanical and firmware engineers on rugged optical assemblies.
- Run experiments to improve signal-to-noise ratio and shot-to-shot consistency.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 3 to 12 years of relevant hands-on optical engineering experience.
- A BS or MS in optical engineering, physics, or photonics.
- Experience building and aligning pulsed-laser and spectrometer systems.
- Hands-on optical calibration and system integration skills.
- Knowledge of Class 4 laser safety, including enclosures and interlocks.
- Ability to own physical systems independently in an industrial environment.
Bonus points
- LIBS, plasma spectroscopy, or laser-induced emission experience.
- Python scripting for sensor data analysis.
- Experience developing hardware for production environments.

Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 150,000 to 250,000 per year.
- Equity: Competitive equity.

- Five days per week onsite.
