Join Us! Our busy ophthalmology practice is looking for Medical Scribes. Joining our team as a Scribe will fast track your career goals! You will assist nationally known vision specialists by using advanced technology. Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is a plus!


We are seeking a detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe with a healthcare background (such as a pharmacy technician, medical assistant, or similar clinical role) to support our patient visits and ensuring efficient clinical workflow. This role is ideal for candidates familiar with medical terminology, patient care, and fast-paced healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do:



  • Make introductions and establish rapport with patients. Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, and other procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants. 
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record; Ensure that letters are prepared to all physicians involved in a patient’s care, and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached. Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned. 
  • Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how the patient will be affected during the tests. Provide necessary patient education and explanations of risks and benefits. 
  • Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
  • Follow all safety procedures as per guidelines.
Qualifications

  • Apply exceptional communication skills to interact with patients and schedule appointments and surgeries. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Outlook)
  • One year of specialized ophthalmic experience is desirable or completion of on-the-job training upon hiring.
  • Experience as a scribe is preferred.
  • Experience as an ophthalmic technician is a PLUS!

$15.00 - $19.00 an hour

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as, but not limited to full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility, annual educational reimbursement, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
