SAIC has an opening for a Windows Systems Administrator in Arlington, VA. SAIC is recognized as an IT leader in the intelligence and law enforcement spaces. This exciting opportunity will be supporting the United States Marshals Services's unique mission needs. We are looking to hire a skilled Windows Administrator to manage and maintain our Windows system and server network. In this role, you will be responsible for installing or upgrading Windows-based systems and servers, managing user access to the servers, and maintaining the security and stability of the network.
This individual is responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining operating system, workstations and servers including web server. They'll perform software installations and upgrades to OS and layered software packages. They will schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. They will monitor and tune the systems to achieve optimum performance levels. This position also tracks and monitors data integrity while evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. They may be required to support data/media recover ability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Documentation is also required.
Windows Administrator Responsibilities:
- Assessing the stability, security, and scalability of installed Windows systems.
- Discussing system and server upgrades with IT managers.
- Installing or upgrading Windows systems and servers.
- Providing technical support for staff and back-end system users.
- Troubleshooting system and server errors.
- Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors.
- Monitoring and updating the Windows codebase.
- Managing user access.
- Monitoring system performance.
- Maintaining server architecture security and creating system backups.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science and 5 years of experience. Additional experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum Secret Clearance Required
- Detailed knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
- Ability to create scripts in Perl, Python, and similar languages.
- Experience with databases, patch management, and networks including LAN and WAN.
- Familiarity with modern operating systems and server platforms.
- Knowledge of network security systems, intrusion detection systems, and data backup.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Virtual Server use in Nutanix
- Active Directory/GPOs
- Microsoft Exchange
- Patching tools/SCCM
- Proven work experience as a Windows Administrator is preferred.
