Position Summary
As a Senior Specialist for Technical Publications, you will promote the global reputation and credibility of the Purina Institute through the creation of relevant, understandable, and compelling stories for both internal and external audiences to convey Purina's science, research, and knowledge. You will assist in global communication efforts of Purina science to external veterinary professional audiences, support R&D scientists to increase scientific publications in peer reviewed journals and use technical writing skills to educate professional audiences on nutritional science.
- Develop scientific content and copy for technical audiences (veterinarians and other vet professionals, nutritionists, KOLs, and pet owners seeking technical knowledge etc.) to convey Purina's science/research and pet nutrition & health
- Translate Purina science and breakthrough innovations (historical and upcoming) into compelling and understandable messages to engage both external and internal audiences, including communicating the science in a relevant way that inspires stakeholders
- Assist in global communication efforts of Purina science to external veterinary professional audiences
- Create content relating to the R&D organization, general pet care and pet nutrition topics
- Provide support for scientists to prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-review and other external publications (i.e., posters, abstracts, conference presentations) In addition, provide support for external collaborators to enable publication of research
- Serve as a point of reference for all Purina scientific publications & train internal groups, as requested
- Represent the Purina Institute on internal review panel to collaborate and communicate status of key publications (i.e., posters, abstracts, manuscripts) quarterly for key internal stakeholders
- Work with medical illustrators and/or graphic designers to define the visuals required to support the copy according to the specific target audience and touch point
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, or equivalent) or advanced post-graduate training/degree in companion animal nutrition (ex. masters, PhD, ACAS- Animal Nutrition etc.) is required
- 1 year of technical knowledge including writing and communication skills experience is required
- Publication in scientific journals and/or creation of scientific marketing materials is a plus
- ACVN boarded is a plus
- Knowledge of the pet food industry and insights into the associated target audiences is a plus
- Experience of working in industry, R&D, product development and/or marketing is a plus
