Argo Group US currently has a challenging opportunity for a Technial Manager. This enthusiastic, self-motivated individual will be part of a team-oriented environment in the Client Services Team.  This role can be remote or based in any US Argo office.

Key Role & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for effective and timely development of new and/or enhanced systems/technologies, with a heavy emphasis on P&C insurance Financial systems including premium/loss financial process, general ledger, payment, ACH, A/P and A/R, etc.
  • Monitors all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle and Production Support service levels. Ensures high level technical support is provided.
  • Oversees business analysis, development work and quality assurance of projects for assigned systems/technologies.
  • Collaborates effectively at all levels to prepare strategic plans. Ensures system requests tie into objectives of the company strategy map and budgets.
  • Contributes to the development of information technology development standards, policies, processes and procedures to ensure consistent compatibility and integration throughout the company.
  • Partners with the DPM to develop the end-to-end technical solution for Projects.
  • Attends Architecture review board when needed or designate someone from their team to represent.
  • Manages assignment of work to the team, including scheduling and coordination of work with other teams on cross-functional initiatives. For smaller teams, may also involve coding.
  • Assures SDLC process is followed, e.g. code versioning, change requests, audit artifacts are maintained.
  • Hands on role, provides technical analysis, solutions, guidance to team(s).
  • Identification of integration points and dependencies.
  • Addresses and remediates tech debt, keeping tech debt to a minimum.
  • Ensures system is on the latest version of software approved by ARBs.
  • Ensures release instructions are clear and concise; attends CAB or sends proxy.
  • For vendor managed systems, the technical leads will represent Argo for all technical activities.

What's Required for the Position:

  • 3+ years hands-on management of Technical teams preferably in P&C Insurance finance sector.
  • Oracle Financials is a must - preferably all modules. Candidate must have strong functional and technical knowledge.
  • Payment and checks processing, ACH and interfaces to banking systems.
  • Experience with Oracle DB and Integrations to any financial systems.
  • Hands on programming experience in Oracle/SQL DB and related.
  • Knowledge on data warehouses/ ETL etc. Knowledge on reporting tools (i.e., COGNOS).
  • A genuine passion for technology and solving problems.
  • A pragmatic approach to solutioning and delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills.
  • Interest in and ability to stay up-to-date with current trends, technologies and best practices that can be directly applied to the work you’ll be enabling.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and continuous integration.
  • Outstanding analytical, technical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong OO, SOA and database design background – design, development, and ability to execute SQLs in order to analyze DB issues.
  • Solid understanding of and ability to implement software design patterns.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology/Systems, or related field.

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years of management experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of P&C insurance products, reinsurance, applications, technologies highly desired.
  • Experience with on/offshore teams.
  • Experience managing consultants and/or distributed teams.
  • Knowledge of application test automation products, processes, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development methods and its application to company technology needs.
  • High-level knowledge/expertise in Legacy and Java development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale business applications.
  • Strong strategic decision making and long-term planning abilities to manage resources and develop efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation & consultative skills for effective collaboration with senior management.
  • Good general business acumen.

The range provided is for Colorado-based hires only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations other than CO may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. Pay range: $100,000 - $120,000 plus eligibility for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
