Overview

Will work independently or with other administrators to configure network devices, to configure operating systems (OS), build application servers, and workstations to support program modeling and simulation (M&S) systems.

Responsibilities

• Take technical direction from the Senior System Administrator for work assignments and overall requirements.
• Install patches and upgrades to OS for Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms.
• The candidate will be required to perform system security lockdowns to include troubleshooting and isolation of problems that are created during installation.
• Assist in isolation and troubleshooting of operating systems, installing applications, configuring network equipment including switches, and providing solutions to operational problems.
• Builds, operates, and manages VMWare, Kubernetes, Windows, and Linux server deployments as well as write automation tasks to deploy services and applications.
• Setup and manage web and data file servers used during training exercises and events.
• May be required to write procedures and programs to automate repetitive processes.
• Must be capable of compiling and installing applications required by the customer.

Required Experience/Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor's degree in computer science or similar degree or 3 to 5 years of systems administration experience on following computer operating systems Linux (Red Hat Enterprise) and Microsoft Windows.
• Must be 8570 compliant IAT II.
• CompTIA Security+ CE and ONEof the following Operating System (OS) certifications:
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
  • CompTIA Linux+
  • Microsoft MCITP or MCTS
• Experience with networks to include routing, VPNs, tunneling, IP addressing schemes, and VLANs.
• Familiarity with DISA STIGS and implementation to meet compliance
• Must have familiarity with NIS, DNS, VMWare vCenter & vSphere, Kubernetes, network file systems, web, and mail servers.
• Familiarity with network security.
• Must be familiar with monitoring software such as Grafana.
• Must have experience with the resolution of problems related to hardware and software, both application and operating systems.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

• Knowledge of modeling and simulations systems used by US military preferred.
