Looking for an exciting opportunity to deepen your technical expertise in the 5G / Cloud space while simultaneously developing leadership and communication skills? We are looking for a Telecommunications Support Engineer to join our Cloud & Network Services Business Unit to be part of the Subscriber Data Management Level 3 Product Support team. In this exciting role you will work collaboratively with Customers and R&D teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical customer issues. Our focus is increasingly on 5G/Cloud deployments, including VNF, CNF, and AWS cloud deployments. Working autonomously in a very dynamic role, you will be responsible for investigating the customer's issues and proactively suggesting solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a Support Engineer to work with cutting edge technologies in the 5G and Telecommunications space. You will continually have the opportunity to learn and work with the newest products and technologies.

What you will learn and contribute to

As part of our team, you will:

  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for live network Subscriber Data Management product trouble reports. Our supported products include SDL, UDM, OneNDS, HLR, and HSS. Requires advanced troubleshooting skills including familiarity with applicable tools and processes and a deep understanding of our products, as well as knowledge of Core Network Elements, 5G architectures, and Cloud Deployments with a detailed understanding of HSS, IMS, LTE, VoLTE, HLR, MAP, Diameter, and LDAP.
  • Reproduce problems in our lab and validate solutions.
  • Participate in periodic emergency on-call support, with responsibility to independently lead the restoration of system outages and emergencies, with flexibility to be on call as needed.
  • Support software upgrades of the SDM products to new releases and validate the upgrade path to be used at the customer site for SDM solutions, including the resolution of the most technically challenging problems associated with these projects.
  • Collaborate with R&D to negotiate solutions and communicate and sell the solutions to customer teams (within Nokia) and customers (outside Nokia), including major US telecom providers.
  • Responsible for new technology support (5G/Cloud) and service deployment, providing technical answers, sharing technical information, providing competence transfer, ensuring quality customer satisfaction survey targets are met, effectively communicating and interacting with R&D teams to describe complex technical issues to customers in a clear manner, and consulting with customers regarding optimization, planning, feature activations, and other improvements.



Your skills and experience

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, IT Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Technical support or R&D. Experience with Core Network Elements including Subscriber Data Management products, IMS products, Diameter applicable standards, and LDAP Databases is desirable.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills including familiarity with applicable tools and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate and interact with R&D teams and the ability to describe complex technical issues to customers in a clear manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with flexibility to be on call as needed.
  • Familiarity with 5G, Cloud, HSS, IMS, LTE, HLR, MAP, Diameter, and LDAP.
