Basic Qualifications

The Senior Network Administrator must have:

  • Expertise in routing protocols, TCP/IP protocols, security requirements and network communications
  • Expertise in with network monitoring and reporting tools and technology
  • Experience with Firewalls to include Palo Alto and Juniper
  • Expertise in Tier III support
  • Familiarity with applicable DISA, IC, and coalition security requirements documents such as STIGS
  • Expertise with CISCO Routers, Switches, WAN Protocols (EIGRP), QOS, LAN, and Data Center Protocols (Spanning -Tree, Fabric-enabled technologies, VoIP to support Data, Voice and Video)
  • Familiarity with authentication and authorization to include 802.1X, ISE, RSA, etc.
  • Familiarity with CISCO ASA appliances
  • Experience with VTC systems to include Tandberg and Polycom
  • Experience with Voice Over IP (VoIP)
  • Familiarity with general Unix OS functionality
  • Hands-on configuration experience with KG-175's
  • Hands-on configuration experience with GEMX or GEMOne software
  • Experience adapting to changing environments and coordinate large scale implementations using available resources
  • Experience working helpdesk functions
  • Experience with technical writing IE: SOPs, technical proposals, etc.
  • Experience with Visio
  • Experience with Network monitoring, preferably SolarWinds


Applicants must meet DoD 8570.1 certification requirements for IAT-II or higher

Bachelor's degree in a specialized area; or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Clearance Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph clearance. Must be willing and able to obtain the clearance within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by manager. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Network Administrator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day communication/network security operation and maintenance of multiple secure network infrastructures
  • Design, develop, build, and test network engineering solutions as part of a team that introduces new technologies and/or improves existing technologies in compliance with established project management processes
  • Lead major project initiatives and develop configurations using expertise in routing protocols, firewalls, datacenter protocols, security requirements and network virtualization
  • Troubleshoot, develop, and design network architectures consisting of multilevel access and multilevel security platforms supporting both CONUS and OCONUS sites
  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, VOIP systems, video teleconferencing, and various other network and telecommunication components
  • Analyze and determine corrective action for secure data communications networks
  • Proficient on SolarWinds NPM, IPAM, NCM, UDT, NTA, and Network Topology Mapper
  • Create/modify Microsoft Visio network diagrams
  • Adapt to changing environments and coordinate large scale implementations using available resources
  • Manage work tasks as assigned
  • Monitor key system metrics to identify trends and analysis using networking monitoring tools, preferably SolarWinds
  • Provide COMSEC support including key management, key renewal, and reporting
  • Implement US government COMSEC standards and practices
  • Support services include cryptographic security, transmission security, emission security, traffic-flow security and physical security of COMSEC equipment
  • Perform TACLANE system backups per documented methods and procedures
  • Maintain multiple Secure Communication devices across the Enterprise
  • Provide cryptographic support to Customers across the Enterprise
  • Program, install, load, and troubleshoot KG-175 TACLANE Encryptors
  • Operate General Dynamics' GEM One application
  • Understanding and implementation of Tempest standards
  • Able to work with a distributed team
  • Work location will be a mix of onsite and remote at the San Antonio location
  • Travel may be required, approximately 10%

Target salary range: USD $96,000.00/Yr. - USD $103,900.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
