$1,500 Hiring Bonus
Job Summary: In a career as the Food Service Worker prepares and serves food for the Boys Town school system. This position also maintains a clean, organized workspace.
Schedule: Part Time. 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., on occasion schedule may be 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Days worked are typically Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and serves food for regularly scheduled or special events; determines portions and utilizes resources efficiently.
  • Prepares food and assists with food preparation as needed.
  • Sets up trays prior to meal service, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Maintains proper HACCP food safety policies and sanitization procedures for service and for clean-up, including washing of dishes and equipment.
  • Sanitizes and cleans kitchen and service area and dining room tables per daily, weekly, and monthly guidelines. Ensures food is properly stored and handled and takes and records food temperatures as required.
  • Interact with students, faculty and staff in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of Federal Sanitation regulations concerning facilities, equipment, and utensils.
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of dish machine, ovens, steamers, slicers, freezers, and refrigeration.
  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong verbal communication skills

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Previous experience in food, preferred.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on established work schedule.
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Food Handlers certification upon hire.

Physical Requirements: Position requires moderate physical activity handling of average weight objects up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally; standing and/or walking continuously.
