Description

The Enterprise Applications Service Technologies (EAST2) program provides services necessary to operate the NASA Agency Applications Office (AAO). The AAO provides services to operate, maintain, and enhance key Business and Mission-Supporting platforms, applications and infrastructure used across the Agency.

As an Application Administrator, the candidate will work in the Application Operations and Maintenance (AOM) team to ensure continuity of service for multiple applications. The candidate will work under the general supervision of the technical lead. Must be self-motivated, have a positive attitude, possess outstanding communication skills (written and oral) and excellent problem solving/analytical skills.

Candidate must be a US citizen and able to obtain NASA clearance levels for contract work at Marshall Space Flight Center.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine monitoring and analysis to include Audit Log Reports evaluation, system and storage utilization reports, site and system usage, growth reports
  • Configure and troubleshoot various software application technologies
  • Monitor and manage the patching level of various software applications
  • Maintain system documentation
  • Setup administrator and service accounts
  • Participate and ensure all activities supporting NASA AAO cyber related documentation, testing, configuration are completed within scheduled timeframe
  • Support and coordinate activities with fellow team members as well as across other NASA contract support groups to identify, fix and provide information regarding resolution of vulnerabilities and incidents
  • Keep abreast of new technology developments and make recommendations regarding changes to current standards and solutions as appropriate
  • Provide on call support (24x7x365) for production applications, on a rotational basis


Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience (1 - 5 years)
  • Basic Linux and Windows administration


Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with the Windows Operating System
  • Demonstrate proficiency with the UNIX Shell scripting (e.g. sh, bash, csh, ksh)Optional:
  • Operating Systems - Microsoft Windows Server, Unix, Linux
  • Web/Application Servers - MS IIS, Apache
  • Programming past experience - One or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, ASP, SQL, C++, Visual Basic, Unix Scripting, NT Scripting
  • Database - SQL experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle
  • Additional skills a plus: Knowledge of networking, BMC CONTROL-M, IBM Mainframe
  • Minimum 1+ system administration experience
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise level application support
  • Experience in enterprise application integration (EAI) using a network centric architecture
  • Navigate a directory information tree (DIT) / familiarity with Enterprise Directory (LDAP)
  • Integrations experience

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and 0 years related experience.
