General Summary
The IT Design Specialist will lead implementation efforts and multiple related projects from discovery through deployment. Position will develop system requirements, solution design, testing, controls including application enhancements for Warehouse Management Systems. Takes a leadership role working with FedEx's Customer, Engineering, Operations and IT Product Development teams, guiding in the solutions design, support, training and delivery.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads cross-functional teams to define requirements, define and design new capabilities and work with product development teams for development and delivery of capabilities
  • Must be able to display ability to logically work through problems to create solutions so business operations contractual service level agreements are maintained.
  • Works with customer on Interface specifications and requirements.
  • Works with business, product teams and data engineers to develop solutions that meeting customer requirements and can be used for future customers
  • Work with implementation and program management teams to transition new customer development projects into normal day to day activities.
  • Establishes and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, the business community, external customers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Stays up-to-date on current and future warehouse execution technologies, capabilities and trends.
  • Follows change control methodology in day-to-day activities.
  • Creates the required change requests for the various task that need to be performed for the implementation.
  • Provides training to team members as needed.
  • Development of SQL, Labels and Reporting used in implementations of customers


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Four to six years of experience implementing and supporting Manhattan WMOS systems is desired
  • Experience working with product development team
  • Previous application development: Programming and/or scripting experience, examples: Java, BASH, PowerShell, Python, VBA, PHP, PERL
  • Working knowledge with integration EDI, API, Webservices and able to communicate with customers - JSON, XML
  • Experience with Interface mapping
  • Implementation of Order Management, Warehouse Management and Forward Logistics Systems
  • Experience with implementing complex multi-system integrated implementations
  • Experience with analyzing data to determine strategy solutions
  • Structured Query Language - ability to create / debug moderately complex SQL
  • Understanding of computer network fundamentals
  • Knowledge of enterprise hardware platforms such as UNIX and/or Linux servers, Oracle relational databases and familiarity with network preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Customer service driven
  • Strong team player

Working Conditions
General office environment that is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment available.
