Overview of the Role

The financial landscape and growing customer preference to do business in the digital channels has been quickly evolving over the past five years with change on multiple fronts, including evolving client needs, market entry of nontraditional competitors and a shifting landscape of emerging technology providers. This has significantly impacted the way we interact with our clients, the products we create and the strategies we deploy to help us compete with fast growing entrants that are non-traditional financial services institutions.

Reporting to the Global Head of Partnerships in Global Consumer Technology, the Industry Technology Partner Head will spearhead building partnerships with industry players to leverage the strength of services to meet the multiple moments of need in our Client's lives through seamless integration of solutions they use in their daily lives. Our vision is to be the go-to partner of leading brands by delivering differentiated, scalable consumer banking experiences that unlock new vectors of growth for Citi.

Description of the Role

This role will co-create new business models with Partners, and ensure technology engineering, delivery and deliverables across our largest technology partners Google, Amazon, Facebook and Apple. This leader will be both a visionary and someone with a strong technology background who sees possibilities, is able to articulate the vision, and bring it to life. An ideal candidate will be comfortable with not only leading and influencing but also diving into the technical weeds and rolling up their sleeves.

The role will have relentless focus on simplification of the customer experience and on radical customer service of our partners while finding opportunities to bring automated solutions and increase knowledge sharing. This person will drive partnership across GCT teams to identify and implement the right architecture to support strategic opportunities and solutions and drive for a single platform that can support the full breadth of Citi's offerings and partnerships, with the tools needed to execute with speed and manage at scale. This role is the core of strategy for the future and will discover market opportunities and build brand awareness, solution partner products and services while driving the technology to deliver them, deploy digital integration in an agile environment, and manage post launch relationships while ensure the right level of self-service is in place with data, metrics, and performance that will be used to continually improve delivery.

Experience in the following will be essential to this role:

Experience in Digital Banking platforms, mobile and web applications, digital product development, and digital experience delivery across wealth management and related digital financial services. Experience delivering end-to-end digitization across all core customer journeys: marketing, acquisitions, onboarding, funding, planning, payments, lending, servicing, rewards & loyalty, identity management, and personalization. Candidate should have extensive experience managing and integrating third party technologies against solid architecture and integration principles to build a best-in-class experience and achieve speed to market.

Successful demonstration of having deployed solutions that integrate operations and digital delivery, including: Solution development & testing, API & product configuration and deployment guides. The success of the partnership platform will be determined by our ability to deliver high-caliber partner offerings to market rapidly and at scale, reducing costs and increasing efficiency. This includes: Unified Experience, Simplicity, Standardization of frameworks, Embedded / automated controls, and Ability to leverage solutions globally.

What You'll Do:

  • Contribute to the strategic product and service offering of the firm and identify synergistic opportunities internally and externally
  • Partner closely across all lines of business to fully align on the overall strategy and prioritization in accordance with the evolving P&L priorities, defining a technology strategy to drive commercial growth
  • Partner with senior management to incubate new strategic opportunities, assess fit, create go to market approaches, and run MVPs / pilots
  • Partner with other GCT Leaders to develop the engineering strategy needed to develop the right solution to meet the needs of partners
  • Evaluate potential opportunities and business cases from a strategic, operational and financial perspective
  • Manage internal and external processes for sourcing, evaluating, winning and closing new partner programs and retention of existing relationships
  • Lead or assist in client meetings and pitches, providing strategic advice and proposals
  • Assist or lead transactions from beginning to close (client sourcing, pitching, M&A process, valuation analyses, due diligence, negotiations, closing)
  • Be able to derive critical insights from technology research, market analysis and market trends in wealth that will ensure solutions and services that excel in the digital age and translate these into tangible opportunities; work with stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional teams to define / communicate the technology approach and delivery plan to meet rapidly evolving market demands.
  • Identify dashboards and data insights relevant for partners on core products and beyond
  • Own and enhance KPIs and metrics, create full 360 view of partnership across the firm and continually leverage performance data to bolster opportunities
  • Collaborate on product development to deliver an ambitious roadmap on schedule and with high quality.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to support engineering managers and tech leads to streamline Intake Engineering and workload demand, while implementing security engineering in the product design and development lifecycle.
  • Lead the collaborative discussion on customer dashboards, focusing on real-time data and clear visualizations that enable client-driven decision-making.
  • Design and implement key engineering KPI to objectively assess and adjust team performance with critical client delivery.
  • Define and implement organizational risk & control practices, processes and solutions in alignment with the strategy and goals.
  • Oversee engineering quality/efficiency standards, operational excellence and SDLC adherence.



Additional Accountability

  • Ensure the quality of all engineering delivery across both agile and back-office waterfall operating models, with ability to dive into daily stand-ups, interpret and review source code, validate controls & testing procedures, lead incident management and problem resolution with urgency, embed controls of risk into software engineering methodologies, and optimize performance, stability, and customer experience across an extremely complex and comprehensive tech stack.
  • Be fluent in rapid technology cycles, self-service, automation, robotics, data, and passive investment strategies
  • Understand the regulatory market, security solution, secrets management, and identity / authorization solutions, and solutions that reduce risk
  • Cultivate an agile and results-driven culture in which innovation and excellence are expected
  • Establish and maintain a high-performing client-focused partnership with an open innovation culture based on integrity.
  • Cultivate strong relationships and working collaboration across multi-disciplined technology teams.
  • Maintain accountability with the client at the forefront of every decision.

  • Ultimate accountability for driving a robust set of partnership solutions, post design, that includes driving excellence in engineering capabilities, automation, observability, compliance and culture.
  • Manage best-in-class quality and simplification methodology and governance of process management.
  • Partner with senior GCT engineering managers to develop best practices.
  • Operationalize rigorous analysis to synthesize complex and multiple sourced data into fact based and nuanced solutions
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.



Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing global teams and be a visionary leader with exceptional soft and organizational skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Master's degree, MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in multiple technology disciplines with extensive experience in business
  • 10+ years managerial experience directly leading high-performing technology teams with demonstrable and measurable results
  • Passion for technology, digital transformation and modernization of architecture and methodologies
  • Consistent record of prudent budget management with a laser focus on Risk & Control management
  • In depth knowledge of financial services and digital commerce
  • Superior relationship management skills and experience with senior client executives
  • Demonstrated success in managing internal and external partnerships and ability to negotiate complex structures
  • Brings a mix of entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial, growth, and corporate-level scaled innovation leadership experience
  • Decisive change agent and transformation leader affecting large culture change.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
