Job Description

The Software Engineer Leader is a people first leader and will lead a team responsible for application development. This leader is responsible for growing associates in all aspects of the development lifecycle. This leader has a strong technical background to adopt new technologies, establish and enhance development practice to deliver the highest degree of software quality while accelerating speed to market. The Software Engineer Leader will possess knowledge in leading agile practices, continuous development methodologies, driving automated test-driven development, and have a working knowledge of integration and architecture solutions.

Essential Activities:

  • Manages a Digital team with a focus on customer facing web properties.
  • Focus on department tasks including design, development, validation, and/or configuration of IT systems that meet technical specifications and end-user requirements.
  • Works with IT Senior Management to develop product, department direction and vision that ensures alignment with business strategy
  • Drives team expectations and goals to ensure the success of the department in accordance with milestones developed by IT Senior Management
  • Lead technical teams, providing guidance to influence standards for development, governance, and operational life cycle
  • Train, coach, and mentor Integration team members on hard technical skills and soft skills
  • Identify ongoing risks and pain points throughout project experiences to develop and implement internal mitigation measures to meet customer needs
  • Identify opportunities and efficiencies in the operating model and support implementation
  • Deliver compelling presentations, architectural blueprint documents, and requirements-gathering workshops to influence the strategic direction of our projects and lead teams through solution designs
  • Establishes and maintains key performance indicators for the practice of software engineering. Endorse and motivate teams to support and ensure the Safelite Software Development methodology is followed.
  • Leads vendor review and selection process as appropriate
  • Determines resource needs based on team workload and project requirements
  • Act as the product/domain area subject matter expert
  • Other duties assigned by management


Requirements:

  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience building and operating consumer facing web sites using Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Experience building and operating consumer facing web sites using modern technologies like microservices and cloud-based platforms
  • Experience with management and supervisory practices; human resource practices; safety requirements and procedures; standard office practices.
  • Experience with IT architecture and design concepts; software development lifecycle; project management; advanced and systems administration practices and principles; planning, design, and problem resolution
  • Experience with managing others and applying management principles to practical work situations; managing projects and programs


Technical Skillset:

  • HTML / CSS / JavaScript
  • Vue.JS / Bootstrap or equivalent
  • Responsive design
  • Experience integrating front end with back-end APIs
  • .NET / C#
  • Building and operating Microservice based eco systems
  • Experience with RESTful pattern (JSON)
  • Cloud based platforms and container services (AWS/GCP/Azure)
