Cloud and Network Services

Cloud and Network Services is a leading Nokia business group that offers Network solutions on Core, Business and Enterprise segments, as well as Cloud solutions and Cognitive Services. It is a newly formed business group, that includes most of the former Nokia Software business, Nokia's enterprise solutions, core network solutions including both voice and packet core, and managed and advanced services from its former Global Services unit. This unit will also act as a delivery channel of certain products from other business groups to enterprise customers. Cloud and Network Services (CNS) will target growth by leveraging the industry transition to cloud-based delivery, network-as-a-service business models, and software-led value creation.

As part of our team, you will:

The Packet Core SME Engineer performs the integration, testing, and troubleshooting of the 4G / 5G network working closely with a talented team of design, technical, and CNS Senior engineers to support the feature testing and deployment of 4G / 5G Packet Core. In this position, the Packet Core SME interfaces with Nokia PLM, R&D engineers, as well as internal Project Management and customer engineering teams to coordinate and facilitate detailed planning and execution of the 4G / 5G network (AMF, UPF, SMF, NRF)

Key Responsibilities / Functions:

  • Review proposed features and develop validation plans and test procedures.
  • Implement test plan in lab and production environment
  • Review test results with customer engineering teams
  • Review Customer Network Data Design (CNDD) to ensure correct system configuration
  • Develop Method of Procedure to integrate the MME, SGW, PGW, CMM, and CMG for specific market configuration
  • Integrate and provision the 5G core elements (AMF, UPF, SMF, NRF)
  • Provides technical support for critical issues during the deployment and post deployment. Responsible for resolving a wide range of LTE Network faults, including simple documentation questions, support for software upgrade, configuration management, hardware fault isolation, software code analysis, performance metric, and call processing related issues
  • Develop process quality for entrance and exit criteria and change control process
  • Coordinate the Customer Acceptance Plan with Technical leads
  • Report project deployment status to management on a regular basis


Your skills and experience

  • Expert knowledge of 4G packet core theory
  • Expert knowledge of 4G element functionality
  • Understanding of virtual network elements and cloud based packet core implementation
  • Strong knowledge of 5G architecture and call flow
  • Experience with 5G packet core elements (AMF, SMF, UPF, NRF)
  • Experience with CUPS architecture and implementation
