Description: The Certified Medical Assistant performs various clinical and technical duties and tasks which includes assisting with direct and indirect treatment and care of adults, and geriatric patients. Typical Duties:

  1. Performs basic patient care including EKG and Point of Care testing with consideration for age and developmental stage and needs.
  2. Obtains and documents accurate and complete vital signs and patient chief complaint or concerns.
  3. Assists in preparing and maintaining clinic readiness including but not limited to chart checks, maintaining neat, orderly, and supplied exam rooms and sets up for procedures as indicated.
  4. Documents accurately in medical records, on forms, and in the computer entering appropriate orders, patient charges, and/or other information.
  5. Assists with appointment scheduling, retrieving and documenting voice mail information from patients accurately in the patients medical record and forwarding information and records to the appropriate practitioner, nursing staff, and/or manager/director in a timely manner.
  6. Participates in quality improvement activities.
  7. Consistently and appropriately maintains charges for all clinic visits.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

    Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and maintained current throughout employment.
  • Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1 year experience practice setting or a hospital based clinic setting.
