What you will be doing

Your broad responsibilities will include: owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects, and developing a deep expertise in the AWS technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform.

The ideal candidate will possess customer facing skills that will allow them to represent Amazon well within a customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel within the company, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact and give guidance with software developers and architects. Should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

  • Serve as a key member of the team responsible for supporting the business.
  • Serve as a key member of the customer facing team in helping to ensure customer success in    building and migrating applications and services on the AWS platform.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the solution architect community.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support.
  • Documents and publishes appropriate architecture principles and standards, position papers, blueprints, best practices, patterns and frameworks.
  • Defines, constructs, supports and provides training for enterprise frameworks.
  • Defines and maintains a library of functional component models within and across FIS product lines.
  • Maintains a catalogue of reusable functional application components consumable across applications and product lines.
  • Reviews functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements.
  • Acts as tie breaker on design decisions.
  • Documents and communicates opportunities to leverage inter-project synergies, application and enterprise software or infrastructure asset re-use and opportunities to expose application assets for enterprise consumption.
  • Communicates system architecture to technical and business audiences.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Post-graduate education desired.
  • 5+ years of experience as an AWS cloud architect.
  • Requires twelve or more years of systems development experience with five or more years as an engineer or systems specialist.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry
  • In-depth knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles including waterfall, iterative and other modern approaches to software development
  • Proficiency in solutions design and requirements definition disciplines leveraging model driven design based tools and techniques including conceptual solution component models, business process models, use cases, etc.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
  • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts
  • Willingly and successfully fulfills the role of teacher, mentor and coach
  • May require a thorough understanding of design patterns and their application
  • May require in-depth knowledge of networking, computing platform, storage, database, security, middleware, network and systems management, and related infrastructure technologies and practices
  • Experience in the design and implementation of complex IT solutions (including scalable cloud-based solutions)
  • Experience in infrastructure, database and networking architecture for highly available, internet-scale applications
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with CTOs, enterprise architects, IT management, and developers
  • Familiarity with the DevOps philosophy, practices, and tools
  • Knowledge of the latest developments in NoSQL databases, Containers and Real time  analytics solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (e.g. Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift, Amazon CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, AWS IoT etc.)

Added bonus if you have:

  • AWS Solution Architect Certificates; Associates, Developer, Professional.
  • Experienced in Azure platform also is desirable.
