Campus Security Coordinator

The Campus Security Coordinator provides collateral administrative and scheduling support to the Campus Security staff while performing the full duties of a Security Associate during scheduled shifts under the direction of the Campus Security Manager. You will meet, greet, and provide service to customers in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner. Equally a crucial part of the job, you will carry out procedures to protect Viasat's personnel, property, proprietary information, and U.S. Government information on company premises. This will include performing routine security and safety rounds, monitoring alarms and CCTV monitors, performing security checks, ensuring the integrity of our campus, and ensuring all visitors are badged and escorted as the need arises.
Job Responsibilities
In addition to the standard tasks of a Security Associate working on scheduled shifts, tasking includes but is not limited to:
- Support the Campus Security team on various administrative tasks
- Assist with the daily workflow, schedules, and assignments of Campus Security staff
- Manage staff attendance, call-outs, and short notice shift coverage
- Assist with the preparation and training for new hires and current staff
- Monitor video surveillance, access control systems and alarms
- Perform security rounds and checks
- Escort visitors and/or employees to unsecured and secured areas as needed
- Foster and maintain a positive work environment
- Support the growth and development of the Campus Security team
- Identify recommendations to improve processes, policies, and procedures
- Perform other related administrative duties and responsibilities as needed
Key Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a general administrative role
- 2+ years of experience in security, military, or law enforcement
- In-depth experience monitoring video surveillance systems and access control alarms
- Strong working knowledge of scheduling large teams with rotating shifts and stations
- Strong administration skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Strong time management with the agility to shift priorities in order to respond to urgent alarm conditions and events
- Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with employees and customers
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and professionalism when representing the company
- Extremely flexible, highly organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail
- Ability to work a 24/7 shift rotation schedule, including holidays and weekends
- Active security clearance or the ability and willingness to obtain one
- BA/BS or equivalent relevant work experience
- U.S. Citizenship
Preferences
- Knowledge of Lenel, Jira, and When2Work
- Experience with visitor management and/or security management system
- Current Secret clearance eligibility
- Education: BA/BS
If the Federal Executive Order for Government Contractors becomes effective, this role may require vaccination. In such instance, absent an approved accommodation based on a religious or medical reason, employees in this role will be required to be fully vaccinated no later than applicable deadlines, which are unknown at this point.
